Nice move for Kimberley there Jimmy.

Any truth in the rumour about Johnny Owen moving from Ockbrook to Caythorpe?

sorry richard , I never noticed the word premier . Something to do with ooold age . How is it that you always " clock on " to this site at 09.02 and then " clock off " at 16.56  --- any pointers to your " working hours "  ??  Incidentally , I've checked the league stats in N.Z. this season , and I can't find how Brett Findley's playing . The big name this year seems to be Ross Taylor and Jonathon Trott . Apparantley ,this lad Trott has been sent to " winter and learn " in N.Z . All I can find out about him is that he has a multi passport ( met a few of these over the years ) and can qualify for England , New Zealand or South Africa --- and is being mentioned as the next Flintoff . Any readers know or heard of this lad ???

Brent has been doing well by all accounts. He was playing for his state prior to Xmas and picking up a few wickets and getting a few runs.

excellant info on Trott , skipper. I imagined him to be late teens , so it surprised me when you said he was 24 . I hope he doesn't turn out to be another 30 year old who is " showing potential " . It's sad that in previous years , the english county scene has turned many " potential " youngsters into medium pace ,stock bowlers who can bat a bit . The new organization of the ECB seems to have recognised past errors and now seems geared up to fast track good youngsters through the system . Let's hope this same system can come up with a genuine spinner .  Late news --- snow falling , pitch inspection delayed , temp around zero --- no play today

I have it on pretty good authority that that isn't now happening; these things are never absolute until paperwork is signed (or not) of course, but it is a VERY reliable source

Not like you to comment on movers that aren't signed sealed and delivered Chris? you getting in the the speculation mode too now?  and while you here what's the latest story from the ecb about prem sides getting some funding based on the age balance of sides?  I'd guess it will be a while before we see the ecb letter from our committee. do you have a link to it at all?

It's a very good source Joe - as close as you can get without being Johnny or OBCC (I will say no more).

Don't have the document, but basically ECB are trying to encourage PL teams to play young players (u21 as at May 1 at start of season). For 2006, if you play two u21s in a game you get 1 point, and 2 points for 3. If you score points in 80% of PL games (ones that start only), then you are entitled to a share of the pot, based on number of points gained. From 2007, it is 3 or more in 80% of PL games to qualify (no points per game, just any club that makes that gets a share). The pool of money available does go up a very large amount over the next 4 years; 38k in 2006, 57k in 2007, 76k in 2008 and 95k in 2009.
