UK Citizenship and Overseas Players
« on: Mar 6th, 2006, 4:44am »

Gday,

Was looking up Cricket in the Nottingham area and came across this site. Wondering if anyone could help me with a query..

I'm a dual citizen (Australian & EU passport holder) and perhaps thinking about playing a bit of cricket in my travels later on this year. I plan to spend a bit of time in Nottingham - just want to know about rules/regualtions on overseas players. I have played as an non-english qualified overseas player in another county before and have also played as an EU citizen as well, in the same 1st XI as an overseas player.

Am curious to the Bassetlaw League rules - would I have to play as a stand alone Overseas player still, or do I qualify as a European, therefore could play alongside an O/S player?

If anyone is albe to help me with this I'd be most grateful as it would make choosing a club much more easier - Id prefer to play the highest standard possible without stepping on anyone's toes.

Many Thanks,

Macka

Macka - I know of a club not a million miles from Nottingham who are looking for players for 2006. If you would like to send me a personal message, or email me at alan@thefollowon.com, I will send you more information.

Regarding overseas rules - you can find the South Notts league rules here, and you can download the Derbyshire County League rules here. Not sure about the Bassetlaw, I'll have to dig out my handbook, but I would imagine they would be very similar.
