sorry to hear about this......hope you can recover and keep going.  Don't let the b***ards grind you down, as the saying goes.   Its an unfortunate slight on society that most of us have probable encountered some sort of vandalism at our clubs. I know at Ashover over the winter we've had 2 large windows put through......I consider ourselves fortunate when clbs like yourselves and Sheepbridge have their pavilions burned down.

Previous comments are right, if the offenders were ever caught, they'd get a slap on the wrist and be told no to do it again.   We need to change the way this country is going or it'll be too late.

Been to the ground this afternoon and things are not good. This is no surprise however, seeing as the bowling pavilion was nearly burnt down 3 weeks ago, a storage cabin last year and the skateboard ramp the year before. These vandals have no respect for other people's recreation or property. Sadly society has a lot to answer to and this is a common problem with today's youth - West Hallam where I live has similar youth problems. Life goes on and The Elks go on!!

On a practical front I have already spoken to the Chairman of Awsworth Parish Council about the situation and there is an Emergency Council meeting tomorrow night to discuss the matter. In the mean time the Council will be on to the insurers in the morning to see what temporary facilities may be provided by insurance funds - the long term will obviously take longer to decide as it is clear a replacement building will have to be a brick built one, but then a shortfall of funds becomes a problem. We will know more on Tuesday when the Council have met and their Insurers contacted. Regarding the equipment lost we will obviously be discussing the matter with our Insurers.

As the season is so near, we are also making preliminary enquiries with other Clubs and neighbouring Councils to check whether alternative facilities are available to host our 3rd and 4th XI's for some or all of next season.

May I take this opportunity in asking all teams who are scheduled to play our 3rd XI or 4th XI this season to please check the venue for the games, although we will obviously give plenty of notice should there be a change of venue.

Thank you in advance for your understanding!!

I am totally gutted for you fellas. But where theres a will theres a way, get your heads together, Im sure there is enough contacts on here to sort something out and get your 3rds and 4th playing this season. Dont let the ba5tards beat you!

I am even more gutted on a personal note, because I was due to play my first game up there when you were set to entertain the Millers in a pre season friendly. Awsworth is a ground I have visited many a time with Eastwood Town juniors, when I used to help run a couple of sides down there, but never had the pleasure of playing there!  cry

Good luck to all at the club, and hope something can be sorted for you very soon. Im sure all the Follow On lads will be saying the same......

Tone and all at the Elks very sorry to here about your Pavilion and I hope that you are able to keep the 3rd and 4th going this season. As my learned friend Ritchie has already said we have also had vandalism at Ashover this year, nowhere near on the scale of yours but still vandalism, its time for baseball bats  Angry

Ideally, if we could, we should put them in the nets without any padding and let some of the prem quicks have a go at them.

Don't know if its been mentioned, but a Follow on game might be in order v The Awsworth team ? Get a raffle going, and ask for a quid off your teammates at your own club before the game ?

just spoke to dick from bulwell cricket club he said that he will able to give the kit what ever is  left and also that he dont care about the financial side because as the club not existed anymore money is no good so he probably will give it to u for free.
He also said make sure u tell me by tomorrow becuase their lots of other people who might be interested in getting the kit.he only wanna give kit to club who may benefit from it .

so if u want the kit just pm me and ill give his number.

Another pointless waste of so many people's time and money.

What does it take before somebody actually takes a stand against this sort of mindless destruction?

Commiserations to Gazza, Tony and all at The Elks   Sad - but hope you get back on your feet ASAP in whatever way you can.

Good luck.
