Best Score of the Week: L Penrose 48n/o

Bawtry returned to form with a 35 run win over Tricky Trees, openers Felix Odell 30 and Brett Hutton 30n/o giving their side a good start on the way to a useful 119 for 4. Despite a fine 38 from Ollie Wilson Trees were all out for 84 in the 13th over. Kiilamarsh looked to be coasting to Calypso Kids 102 total before Dave Hancock 2 for 20 and man of the match James Hubball 2 for 13, adding to his top score of 38 in the Kids innings, snatched victory by 10 runs.

Langolds modest 99 for 6 total was backed up by tight bowling as M&P Dragons limped to 70 for 6 in reply. Woodsetts paid the price for being bowled out in 12.2 overs as Thoresby Colliery, playing in only their second match, made light of the 101 a/o total knocking off the runs in only 11 overs, D Tyson top scoring with 29n/o.

A great performance from Cuckney Cowboys veteran Paul Hunt with 2 for 7 and 34 in a 31 run win over Gedi’s Buzzards.

You would have expected the star match on Monday to be play off champions Small Timers v Monday champions Clumber Park but in fact it turned out to be an easy 36 run win for Timers, Dan Wheatley top scoring with 36. It was good to see Cuckney first team captain Will Butler playing indoor again after his teams heroic performances in reaching the final of the Cockspur Cup, he certainly would have been impressed by his young Ginyu Force team mates as they racked up a massive 167 for 6 against Wiseton, Brad Wright 46 and Luke Wood 47 leading the way. Brad rounded off a fine individual effort taking 3 for 11 in the Wiseton innings and he was well supported by his younger brother Taylor with 2 for 1 making the margin of victory 98 runs.

Walesby look a good bet for the Wednesday title this term following a 2 wicket win over a useful Bawtry side that should also be in the mix. Fiskerton have made a good start on their return from Sundays and are now turning out stronger teams, this week beating Baa Baa’s in a nail biting penultimate ball finish, and well done Blyth the win over Shirebrook being their first since rejoining the league at the start of last season, Liam Penrose the star with 48 in a narrow 1 wicket win.

    Cheers Steve
