Derbyshire v Australia
Derbyshire play against cricket's world champions for the first time since 1997, in a two day fixture on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th July. Watch Ricky Ponting (pictured) and his all star team for just £15 (£13 in advance) as they prepare for the Test Series against Pakistan.
Since their last visit to The County Ground the Australians have won: the Ashes in 1997, 1998/99, 2001, 2002/03 and 2006/07 as well as the Cricket World Cup in 1999, 2003 and 2007. With a line-up containing several of the world's best and most exciting cricketers, this is an excellent opportunity for the public of Derbyshire and beyond to see Australia in action.
8 home Friends Provident t20s in total
The new Friends Provident t20 competition will see Derbyshire play more home t20 matches than ever before in 2010, including the popular visit of Nottinghamshire Outlaws on Thursday 17th June (7pm), a Friday night clash against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday 16th July (7pm) and the club's first ever t20 meetings with Worcestershire Royals and Warwickshire Bears.
International Cricket - England Women and England Lions
England Lions play a four day fixture against Bangladesh at The County Ground starting on Wednesday 19th May (11am). Six of the players who lined up for the Lions against West Indies at Derby last year have been on full England duty in South Africa this winter. The international theme continues on Thursday 15th July as reigning world champions England play their NatWest Women's Series International against New Zealand under The County Ground floodlights (2.30pm).
Six home fixtures in the ECB 40 League
Derbyshire Falcons will contest Group B of the new competition with Essex Eagles, Gloucestershire Gladiators, Middlesex Panthers, Netherlands, Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Yorkshire Carnegie. Two of the home matches will be played on Bank Holiday Mondays, the first of which, against Essex, will be played at Leek Cricket Club in the Staffordshire Moorlands on Monday 3rd May (1.45pm). The Falcons will also play two Sunday afternoon home fixtures and two televised floodlit matches in midweek.
11 days of cricket, including 2 Friends Provident t20s, at Queen's Park, Chesterfield
The action at Derbyshire's picturesque northern outpost begins with a four day fixture against Surrey starting on Monday 28th June (11am) before the Friends Provident t20 visit of Leicestershire Foxes on Friday 2nd July (2pm). Sunday 4th July is the big one as the Falcons entertain Lancashire Lightning, again in the Friends Provident t20, and the Chesterfield action is rounded off with the traditional five day festival in early August. Yorkshire Carnegie are the visitors for an ECB 40 League encounter of Sunday 8th August (1.45pm) and a LV = County Championship match against Northamptonshire begins on the following day (11am).
The race for LV = County Championship Promotion
After competing for promotion through to the final game of the 2009 season, Derbyshire are aiming to go one better in 2010. Chris Rogers (pictured) and the team will play eight four-day matches at home between April and August.
