Rob Sutton’s century boosted Radcliffe-On-Trent’s title hopes and blew Balderton off top spot in Division One of the Newark Alliance. Sutton smashed and unbeaten 105 whilst youngster Jake Fish (65) registered another impressive score to make light work of Balderton’s 197 and Radcliffe eased home by 6 wickets to go second.
Madni’s 40 run win at Papplewick & Linby (164) secures top spot once again. Husnain Riaz’ half century plus 43 and 3 wickets from Adnan Farooq means Madni leapfrog Balderton.
There was more frustration for Southwell as despite a dry weekend their game was called off once again. They’ve now lost all four home games to waterlogging at their ground this season.
PCCC’s comprehensive 99 run defeat to Bestwood Village (215) sees new leaders in Division Two. Long Eaton move top after a narrow victory over bottom side Thurgarton whilst elsewhere Notts & Arnold’s Dilhan Cooray (102*) and Sam Ecob (64*) hit an unbeaten double century opening stand to do for Oxton (198 for 9).
Co-leaders Clumber Park took just 12 overs to dispose of a weakend Wollaton side (105) in Division Three. Darren Ward smashing 62 in no time to keep pace with Claypole who kept their 100 percent record with a 3 wicket win at Fastlane Cabs (130). All-rounder Luke Endley made a crucial contribution for the victors taking 5 wickets then top scoring with 35.
Pakistan Cricket Club and Risley are both still unbeaten in Division Four. Leaders Pakistan in fact have never lost a game in the Newark Alliance after going unbeaten in their debut season and starting their second campaign in equally formidable form. For once their perfect record looked underthreat after Colston Bassett restricted the free scoring visitors to just 145. It still proved enough though as the Pakistan bowlers were up to the test and fought back mainly through Yaqub Tayeeb (4-19) to keep their flawless run going.
Risley edged an exciting game at Calverton. Darren Wright had hit 86 for the hosts in setting Risley 197 to win but in-form Jay Harper (76) and the reliable Marc Addison (47*) saw Risley home to keep Pakistan in sight.
16 year-old Simon Oakley proved the match-winner for Gotham Village in Division Five. Oakley’s 5 for 10, coupled with 4 for 7 from Mohammad Niazi meant visitors Kegworth crashed to 80 all out and a suprise 112 run defeat. Gotham captain James Burton had earlier laid the foundations for the deserved win with a gritty 72.
Thurgarton II are the new leaders in Division Six. Wellow Exiles were another side skittled for 80 thanks to Tim Kirkham’s 5 for 13 for Thurgarton who cruised home by 8 wickets. They takeover top spot from Rainbow (78) who were bowled out inside 20 overs at Heanor Town who made hard work of the reply but prevailed with an over to spare (79 for 7).
Gedling & Sherwood were in a hurry in Division Seven where Elliot Griffiths blasted a rapid century (120*) and teammate Jake Bircumshaw smashed 70 at West Bridgfordians II (216 for 7).
Set 217 to win the duo’s assault meant G&S reached their target in just 25 overs to go top.
