Derbyshire County Youth Coach John Brown retires
by Alan Rowley, 13th October 2001

Derbyshire County Youth Coach John Brown, affectionately known as JD, has decided to retire from his full-time post. JD has 26 years of service to Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

In a press release, Derbyshire County Cricket Club's Chief Executive John Smedley said: "He leaves with the grateful thanks of all at Derbyshire for his commitment to a variety of roles spanning four decades." Smedley also said that no direct replacement is being sought for the role that Brown leaves due to the "ever-increasing activity of the Derbyshire Cricket Board" .

JD plans to maintain an active involvement in cricket, perhaps in a consultancy role. Sting In The Tail would like to wish John all the best for the future and joins Derbyshire County Cricket Club in thanking him for his services.
