Dominic Cork offered captaincy for 2002
by Alan Rowley, 15th August 2001

Derbyshire County Cricket Club have offered Dominic Cork the captaincy for the 2002 season. Derbyshire supporters are left asking "will he stay or will he go?"

In a brief statement issued by Derbyshire County Cricket Club today (Wednesday 15th August), it was confirmed that Dominic Cork is to be offered the captaincy of the club for the 2002 season. The press release reads:

"The General Committee of Derbyshire County Cricket Club have unanimously agreed to offer Dominic Cork the Captaincy of the Club for season 2002. Discussion is also due to commence on an extension to his current playing contract, which expires in September 2002."

Whether Cork accepts the offer, or indeed remains at the County Ground, is yet to be seen, but rumours are rife that he will leave the club at the end of the season. Favourites to acquire Cork's services, according to the rumours, are Warwickshire and Lancashire.

Rest assured, as soon as we hear more details, we will bring them to you.
