Champagne breakfast sees Elvaston off in style Elvaston Cricket Club were given a great send off as they left their ground for an attempt at a record equalling third Village Cup triumph. They take on Swansea Valley club Ynystawe in Sunday's final which starts at 11:00am.
The club held a champagne breakfast at their ground prior to boarding the bus for an overnight stay in the capital. A full fry-up was put on for the players, friends, family and the press in the club pavilion. Skipper Richard Johnson told Sting In The Tail that the club knew little about their Welsh opponents but Elvaston's experience could enable them to gain that record equalling third victory following successes in 1994 and 2000.
Johnson is pictured above being interviewed by Central Television and opening the first of many bottles of champagne. The Road to Lords Derbyshire Group Round One - bye National Competiton Round One - beat Plumtree (home) by 66 runs
Elvaston will be at full strength for the final which starts at 11:00am. Sting In The Tail will be at the game and a full report will be available on the site on Monday.
