Derbyshire County League changes for 2002

The Derbyshire County Cricket League sees a further expansion in the 2002 season when Parwich join the league. Sting In The Tail welcomes them to the league and we hope to see them contributing to this site in the near future.

Parwich , whose delightful ground is situated to the north of Ashbourne in the Peak District National Park, have been placed in Division 4E. They will not be competing in the domestic cup competition in their initial season. Parwich kick off their County League campaign with an away fixture at Old Park . Their first home game is on May 4th when they entertain Sandiacre Town .

Other changes to report are:

• Chaddesden 2nds have withdrawn from the League.
• Alvaston & Boulton 3rds , who will play in Division 5C, have joined the League and taken up Chaddesden 2nds slot on Chaddesden Park.
• Dunstall 3rds (playing at Newborough) and Ticknall 4ths (playing at Repton) also join the League in Division 5C.
• Ockbrook & Borrowash 3rds and 4ths will play their regular home games at the second ground at Ockbrook from the end of May.
• Lullington Park 3rds and 4ths will play all their regular home games on the second ground at Lullington.
• Spondon 3rds will now play at a venue to be notified shortly. This will enable Old Derbeians to utilise the two slots at Parker's Piece.
• The 30 teams in the bottom divisions have been distributed 10/10/10. This guarantees all the teams in those 3 divisions a reasonable amount of cricket. It also allows teams in those divisions, a good number of which are 'start-up' teams (i.e. first or second season in the league) more flexibility on when they play fixtures, and places less strain on what may initially be a fairly limited resource.
