Stainsby exodus continues as Lacey returns to the Mill Former Derbyshire spinner Simon Lacey has re-joined Premier Cup winners Langley Mill for the 2002 season. Lacey, who was released by the county at the end of the 2000 season is the latest in a steady stream of players leaving relegated Stainsby Hall. Lacey follows former Derbyshire and Stainsby colleague Adrian Marsh back to the Mill. Lacey had a largely unsuccessful season at St John's Road by his standards. He will be disappointed with his 26 wickets in the 2001 season at an average of 28.12 and he finished well down the Premier League bowling averages. The move will be another bitter blow to Stainsby following the defection of Marsh and skipper Peter Davies, who re-joins Spondon. The Hall are hoping to sign two batsmen with first-class experience to supplement their dwindling squad. Meanwhile, back at Station Road, we understand the Millers are interested in another Derbyshire reject Trevor Smith. Smith, released by the county at the end of the 2001 season, is still looking for a county, but sources at the Mill tell us that they are hopeful of attracting the pace bowler. Promising youngster Samit Patel will be staying at Langley Mill for 2002 despite tempting offers to play in the Nottinghamshire Premier League.
