Michael Dickinson 'had no choice but to quit' Michael Dickinson has said that he had "no choice but to quit as a member of the Derbyshire County Cricket Club general committee" . Speaking in the Derby Evening Telegraph, he said he reached his decision after the club offered Colin Wells another term as cricket manager. Dickinson joined the Derbyshire committee in 1999 following the vote of no confidence in the General Committee. He resigned this week and said that he hoped his decision to quit would spur other members into taking a firmer stand in the future. Dickinson went on to say: "I thought long and hard about this. There are some good people on the committee, and I have nothing but respect for the chairman Trevor Bowring, but this was the first real decision we have had to make in three years and I felt one or two took the easy way out." On the subject of Dominic Cork's re-appointment as captain, Dickinson said he was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but he felt that the problem was "the players are not properly motivated and the responsibility for that must rest with the cricket manager." Strong words indeed. Do you agree or disagree with Dickinson's views?
