Richardson heading for the Postage Stamp? Spondon Cricket Club look set to sign Tasmanian quickie Wayne Richardson. 24 year old Richardson, who plays for Tasmanian club side Mowbray, is an opening fast bowler and lower order batsman. Initial reports suggest that he is "very quick". Spondon's Sam Kellogg told Sting In The Tail: "I feel with him and Pete Davo coming back we will be very difficult to beat. But some of us need to make up for a very average season last year!". Spondon expect to seal the deal soon - more details as we get them. Quarndon have not given up on recruiting Scott Phillips for 2002. Quarndon skipper Mark Tournier is still said to be persuing the Australian star, who did so well in the County League Division 1 for Morton Colliery last season. Phillips has already told Morton that he won't be coming back to England next season due to work committments. Will he change his mind? Ambergate have already re-signed last year's overseas player Imran Ullah .The Pakistani scored 509 runs last year at an average of 31.81 and came second in 3A's bowling averages taking 52 wickets at 12.00. Ullah's signing is the start of a big push from Ambergate to improve on last year's fifth placing. The club will be looking to finish in a promotion position by the end of the 2002 season.
