Hewson century in promising Derbyshire display Derbyshire drew their two day pre-season friendly against Worcestershire at the County Ground with new boy Dominic Hewson scoring his first ton for his new county. The close season signing from Gloucestershire scored 101 from 155 balls, hitting a six and 16 fours.This was the second century in the game following Graeme Hick 's 105 on the first day. Batting first, Worcestershire scored 212 all out with Kevin Dean and Tim Munton each taking four wickets, for 43 and 47 runs respectively. Hick's contribution included 18 fours. Derbyshire replied with 278 all out with Steve Stubbings giving another solid display scoring 66. Dominic Cork , quickly recovering after leaving the ground on crutches two days earlier, scored 29 in quick time. Tim Munton chipped in with 21 towards the end of the innings. When Worcestershire took the crease for their second innings, a fine spell from Tom Lungley (2 for 14) left them reeling, but they recovered well to finish the game on 145 for 4. Scores:
