London day out beckons - Elvaston march on Elvaston are through to the semi-finals of the National Village Championship yet again after beating Worcestershire side Colwall in a tense game last Sunday. Batting first, Elvaston were reduced to 2 for 3 from the first two overs. However, Rob Kettlewell (40) and Rob Torry (68) staged a fine recovery to see Elvaston to 194 for 9 from their 40 overs. Colwall put up a brave fight, thanks to 53 for Tim Wolfindale and 45 from Steve Ferguson, but Andy Barrett put the visitors out with figures of 5 for 28 from his nine overs. Scores: Elvaston (194-9) beat Colwall (154) by 40 runs In the semi-final, Elvaston will face Wolviston, winners of the Durham, Cleveland & Tyne and Wear section at home on August 18th. Wolviston comfortably beat Streehouses by 47 runs thanks to 61 from G Ward. Scores: Wolviston (171-9) beat Streethouses (124) by 47 runs Wolviston are no strangers to the Derbyshire lads as the two teams met in the semi-final stage last season. Elvaston came out tops by two wickets in a tense and hard fought game in front of a large Durham crowd. The other semi-final will be between Rowledge and Shipton-Under-Wychwood. Rowledge beat Langleybury by 41 runs, whilst Shipton-Under-Wychwood beat Werrington by the same margin. Scores: Rowledge (193) beat Langleybury (152) by 41 runs, Shipton-Under-Wychwood (183-7) beat Werrington (142)
