Player of the Year - it's neck and neck With less than a fortnight to go, the race to become Sting In The Tail's first ever Player of the Year looks likely to go right down to the last day.
Former Derbyshire pace bowler Smith (pictured left), proved himself to be a top notch all-rounder for league runners-up Ockbrook and Borrowash in 2002. His 844 runs came at an average of 49.65 and his 44 wickets were achieved at 16.77 runs apiece. A fierce hitter of the ball, Smith's performances earned him second place in the league's "Most Valuable Player" list, just behind Sandiacre's Naeem Akhtar.
Both these players would make deserving winners of the site's first ever Player of the Year award, but is it really a two-horse race? Quarndon's Gary Myers is still in touch with the leaders and could still spring a surprise. If you haven't voted yet, you have until midnight on November 30th to cast your vote.
