It's Plumtree or Gotham in the Village Cup The final of the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire regional group of the Village Championship 2002 takes place this Sunday (23rd June) when last year's regional victors, Plumtree, entertain Gotham. Due to the small amount of entrants from this area, Plumtree have reached the final having played just two games. They started their campaign back in early May by defeating Everton by eight wickets. They can thank openers Walton and Rashid for their easy victory as they put on 108 for the first wicket. Scores: In the next round, Plumtree went on to defeat Lowdham by 75 runs. Scores: Gotham, on the other hand, had an even easier progression to the final. They only had to play in the semi-final, receiving byes in all the other rounds. In their only game, Gotham comfortably defeated Grainthorpe thanks to a magnificent 157 from Garry Kerslake. He faced just 107 balls in his knock, scoring 20 fours and three sixes. Pick of Gotham's bowlers was Kevin Perrell, who took 5 for 24 as Gotham cruised to an easy 56 run victory. Scores: Outlawed, and our sister site Sting In The Tail , will keep you updated as this competition progresses to the national stage. The first round of the national competition starts on July 7th, culminating in a Lord's final on September 1st.
