Notts Schools jubilee match at Trent Bridge 1953 Following Outlawed's articles on the centenary year of the Nottingham Schools Cricket Association, we are pleased to publish a photograph submitted by one of our readers.
The photograph shows the players who took part in the Notts Schools Jubilee Match played at Trent Bridge in 1953. Although the photograph is of poor quality due to its age, it is of sufficient interest to warrant inclusion on the site. If you are on the photograph, or you know any of the players, please contact us and we will publish your story. Our anonymous correspondent says: "I represented the county during 1953 and I had trials at Trent Bridge, after which I played in the Bassetlaw League with Worksop and Steetley for 35 years. I now umpire in the same league. During my period in the league I played with Freddie Stocks, Eric Martin, Jack Kelly, Arthur Underwood, Ted Blagg, Ted Ward, Alan Gill, John Loates, Ian Davison and Kevin Saxilby. I also played against Derek Randall, Tim Robinson, M. Hall, C. Matthews, N. Hill, Mike Smedley, (all ex-Notts) and C. Gladwin, Mike Hendrick, Alan Ward, Harold Rhodes, Geoff Miller and E. Smith (all ex-Derbys)." Many famous old names there. If you have any old photographs, or memories, that you would like to share with our readers, please contact alan@thefollowon.com, and we will publish your stories on the site.
