Having read this, Does anyone know what the combined weight of Tibby's Team is? It sounds like they would make a great set of forwards!!!!

OMF...

Pete Maloney - 25 stones ???

Are your eyes painted on ? The beer swilling clubber is nearer 30 !!!
You'll be convincing us next that your dress size is a 10 !!!
Adam...
The tubby little wicketkeeper, affectionately known as 'Shrek' is a mere bambino in the company mentioned and duzzna even warrant a mention !

(PS - Mitch could you get us some tops with "HEAVYWEIGHT X1 - Who ate all the pies ?" on ?

And do you do them in XXXXL and Tent Sizes ???)

We could do it for charity?

We could have Hot Dog and burger stalls, chips on the go all day, as many packets of crisps that you can eat, chocolate, cakes, lager, Brown Ale, Guiness, pies, lager, peanuts, lager and more lager!?

What does everyone reckon?

Must have the game on a ground with a bar, how about it Mitch? However with all the big hitters about will need extra supply of balls, but at least players won't have to run far.

Seriously though could make a good fund raiser for charity. Heart foundation perhaps?

too right! im likeing that! and you can have as much tea as you want without everyone letting you have it! Tibshelf this year was worst for me! i normally get it at the tea table but the Tibshelf game was a joke, even talks of a sponsered diet, i mean forget that!!
I think the idea of the heavyweights vs Sting XI would be a great idea! all proceeds going to charity! where would the game be played?

Un Silent majority, John Parkinson our keeper is a big lad, he surely should be in there!

Harchuckle,

Firstly, I think you'd better find a tea lady who's prepared to spend the entire week prior to the fixture producing enough tucker for this band of arbuckles. Personally I don't think its possible looking at the calorie consuming potential of the side, so you may have to get the entire Gulf War catering corps in!

Hey, I like the idea of a heavyweights charity match, and getting Slimming World, or someone similar, to sponsor it isn't as daft as it sounds. Could raise quite a bit of money here. Shall we go ahead? Any ideas on charities? How about Bank Holiday Monday, or any Sunday in July. Any blank dates Chris?

Ideas, ideas! Let's have your views.

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: ChrisHigginbottom
Date: 30-05-03 07:50

July 20th wouldn't be bad; it's the week after the cup quarters, and is left blank in case of rain. By then there wouldn't be that many sides left in, so ground and player availability should be good, although holidays might be starting to get in the way. June 29th might also be worth a try; it's the slip date for the 2nd round, so perhaps more teams and players still involved, but less holidays?

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: Alan Rowley
Date: 30-05-03 07:55

July 20th is ideal for me. I was going to have a long weekend then anyway. A couple of days in the Lake District, take in Cartmel races, back on Saturday for some cricket and then a charity game on Sunday. A couple of days off Monday and Tuesday to recover.

What a weekend!

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: Danny Parkin

Chaps, I will try to find out if we have a day free at Marehay, we have got very large changing rooms, which should be ideal for "hefty" people.

However I think it would be funnier if we put them in a small changing room!!!!

If you want me to look into it, I will ask tomorrow?
let me know

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: Alan Rowley
Date: 30-05-03 08:41

Yeah Danny - go ahead. Let us know what you can find out. Your ground is plenty large enough to perhaps combine the day with a car boot, stalls, whatever. And it's centrally located to attract Derbyshire and Notts visitors.

I'm getting quite excited about this.

Glad this has sparked so much interest, lets get it on guys, have a fun game of cricket eat and drink loads and make some money for charity in the process. July 20th seems a good date giving time to get thing sorted out.

Need to decide which charity though

Saw a real hevyweight contender last night Buster Bloodvessel in Mansfield a pitty he doesn't play our beloved game, he would have without doubt made the first X1.

Re: Heavyweight X1

Nice suggestion Jam - entrance music. Now then, what other fatty related music can we use?

As regards a charity, how about something to do with cricket - especially the development of junior cricket. Now that would spur me on to putting some time into this. What do we say?

The charity is very worthwhile mate...
The game would be fun and raise some cash but I can't imagine it would raise too much....
As an extra suggestion could we not gauge everyone's interest regarding a possible speaker dinner to raise something towards this also.
How many clubs that contribute to this site would be happy to fill a table ?

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: Danny Parkin

THIS IS WHAT "LOCAL" CRICKET IS ALL ABOUT!!!!!!!

THIS IS WHY I PLAY THE GAME!!!!!

IF WE CAN ALL PULL THIS OFF WE SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF OURSELVES.
WE SPEND TOO MUCH TIME WORRYING ABOUT WHO'S BEATING WHO OR WHO'S PAYING WHICH OVERSEAS OR PROFESSIONAL WHEN IN REALITY, THE FACT THAT WE PAY PEOPLE WHO HAVE A TALENT FOR CRICKET IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVENT IN THE BIG SCHEME OF THINGS!

JUST IMAGINE.........A SUNNY DAY (HOPEFULLY), PLENTY OF BEER, FOOD AND FUN AND A GAME OF COMEDY CRICKET, I CAN THINK OF NO BETTER WAY TO SPEND A SUNDAY AFTERNOON!

The unsilent majority, I think if we can spread the word we could raise quite a bit more than just "some" cash, what does everyon else think?

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: jonb

The field will have 11 large chocolate cakes spread around which the fielding side have to protect and get to eat after the game/innings. If the ball hits their cake they lose a slice meaning the less they stop the less they get to eat. Could also award bonus runs for the batting side if they hit one.

Could lead to some fantastic desperate diving stops as the fielders try to protect their post match snack!!

Re: Heavyweight X1
Author: ChrisHigginbottom

Is China on tidal wave warning for all these diving stops?

Re: Heavyweight X1

Fellas

As someone who will, fortunately, not meet the necessary criteria to play in this game, I just some clarifiaction as to what any spectators will be seeing when they turn up to watch.

A load of immensely fat blokes, in fancy dress, desparately trying to protect a load of chocolate cakes that have placed around the perimeter of the field!!!!!!

I think a lot of people may be making frantic phone calls, checking the precise content of whatever they were drinking or smoking the night before, as this sounds like something out of a David Lynch film.

one player that should be considered, is malc donaldson, who plays for stonebroom. He is the fattest cricketer i have ever seen.
he stands 5'7 and at his heaviest weighed 27stonne. He stinks like a yaks arse. he rubs the ball under his armpit for that little bit extra shine, then licks it then passes it to the bowler. nice.

I'm all for the cash going to the kid from Ripley. Let's raise the cash for him.

We need to get working if we're going to pull this off. We need help from the media - Telegraph, Radio Derby, Radio Nottingham etc. We will need some sponsors - can everyone ask their employers, club sponsors etc. if they can help? We also need posters, leaflets, flyers etc - anyone have any contacts?

Over the weekend, tell all your club colleagues and let's get the word around about what we are trying to achieve. All being well its "The Monsters of Cricket" at Marehay on Sunday July 20th. All in favour say 'aye'.

I will be in the chatroom on Monday lunchtime from 12:00 until 14:00 if anyone wants to join in and discuss this - a sort of online committee meeting.

Should we do some of those sponsor forms that people take round workplaces. You know the ones I mean where you write down how much you want to donate. We could do it on something like one penny for every run scored, although most people will probably chuck in a couple of quid.

If everyone of us filled in just one sheet, the money would soon be rolling in.

For once in my life im gutted in not FAT! I want to be FAT! have we got a cut off limit for weight? at least 18 stones?

Although im from the dark side of the Derbyshire border (Notts) id really like to see this game and get involved in some way, it sounds like its gonna be fun and the charity is a very good one, if Outlawed was pulling the page view in id try something to help too, but sadly its not, ill put the word around our league and push for some more support, ill keep in touch with it all through me dad (Alan 'From that Derbyshire Website' Rowley).

I think it would be great to have a pre-match weigh-in! get some scales and have to lads facing off boxing style?

Or even wrestling style ring anouncer, "making his way to the wicket, Weighing in at 23.6 stones, from tibshelf.............."

anyway ill keep on here and keep in touch

Fat Boys Cricket Match I cant wait.

Had confirmation of all the 4 Tibby boys in original line up will play with 1 other possibiity. However if we get enough players interested then we may have to have a qualifying weight.

Hello everyone, I am very confident now that Our ground will be available on that day. Alan has touched on what we need to do to get this off the ground, so, when you are sat around waiting to bat today and tomorrow would you all try to spend a little bit of time coming up with ideas for event's during the day.

Please post your Idea's as and when you can please!

I love the Idea of Jambrose, introducing the Batsmen to the crease and the bowlers when they start new spells, new overs etc. I also love the idea of a weigh-in.

Does anybody have a relative who is involved with weightwatchers? If so, would they like to have a stall there so people could join on the day? By the sounds of it there should be enough people there who could do with joining!!!!!

Also, does anyone have a PA system?

I'm also from the other side of the border but I think this is a brilliant idea and if you're in need of a scorer I'd like to help.

I'm off work for a week now, so I should have some time to get things going.

Andy, could you email me with the details about the lad? I would like to get up to Ripley to see him and do a report. Once that's done, we can't back out and the game MUST get sorted.

Danny, is the ground confirmed? Can they do food? We will need chips, burgers and stuff all day. Does anyone know anybody who has a burger van who would come to the ground for the day? Preferably someone who would donate some of the massive profits they are bound to make.

Also, an ice-cream van would be useful.

I had another idea yesterday, why don't we contact John Smiths and ask them to donate some beer? Then we could mimmick there 'avit' advert and bring out 15 cans of John Smiths at each drinks interval. That would make good press coverage. In return, they might donate a barrel.

Also, it would be nice if we could get some celebrities involved. Anyone have any contacts?

ExtremeScorer - are you fat? Seriously, email me on alan@derbyshirecricket.info and we can sort something out.

If Andy Houghton wants to play I'm sure we can fit him in, I suggest we get as many volunteers as we can can then sort the teams from there.

Don't forget to log into the site chat room between 12:00 and 2:00pm tomorrow (Monday). I would like us, at least, to decide on a title for the event, venue, start times etc so that I can start publicising it.

Willie Salt at Swanwick must be close to qualification- but not if Alfords the ump. Rich Jowett is also rather large but i dont think he'd play as his arse seems to welded to his settee. We got dicked at Clay Cross today so i watched our 2nds at home to Butterley. Malc Green actually ran to field a ball.- Its your turn next week Mitch.

Ps- Andy - i bought some fantastic kit from that place near Ikea

Richard,...I didnt know there was an OXFAM near Ikea !!!!! but i do agree that WILL would enhance the team...more the teams more the interest...

This is the original message that started the 'Monsters of Cricket' idea.

As there is now a lot of interest throughout the whole network, I thought it was appropriate to bring the message back on to the front page of the forum - and reach a century into the bargain.
