Nottinghamshire supporters forum debuts in local press
by Alan Rowley, 7th February 2004

The popularity of 'the follow on' and its forums continued to grow today when the Nottingham Evening Post used quotes from the Pietersen - finished? thread in a Chris Waters' article on the Pietersen debacle. The article, entitled 'It's all gone so wrong for Pietersen' appears in the Saturday 7th February edition of the newspaper.

Pietersen - finished?
Pietersen - finished?

Waters, a regular reader of the Outlawed forum, quotes 'a forum for Nottinghamshire supporters on the Internet' in his article and goes on to quote some 'withering opinions' from the forum on how the South African should be treated. The article says:

'I used to be a big fan of his' said one supporter, 'but no longer. I don't think they should even let him play for the twos. He will only disrupt the team and have a negative influence on the whole club'.

Another fan made clear: 'Before he let his views be known, I was one of his top fans. I felt the Trent Bridge admission price was worth it just to see him bat. But now I wouldn't go down the local park to watch him.'

In the article, Waters finds it 'difficult to understand why the man is now at such odds with his employers'. He says: 'Pietersen had the respect of his team-mates, the love of the crowd and radiated contentment. Somewhere along the line, things have gone badly wrong.' He concludes the article by hoping that Pietersen 'sees sense and treats us to another vintage summer', but finishes 'don't hold your breath ...'

One thing is for sure, it looks like being a vintage summer for Nottinghamshire cricket in the media with the launch of 'the follow on' and the much improved coverage of the local cricket scene in the Evening Post. For all the best Nottinghamshire cricket news, stick with 'the follow on' and the Evening Post - maximum exposure!
