Committee U-turn over restructure plans by Alan Rowley, 20th February 2003
In a dramatic u-turn, the Management Committee of the Gunn and Moore South Notts League have reacted to complaints about the league divisional re-structure issued in December 2003. A revised document has been issued to clubs.
In a letter from Joe Mitchell, on behalf of chairman David Richards who is abroad, Mitchell says: "... the method used to allocate teams to appropriate Divisions with regard to ground criteria was incorrect and in consequence some 15 teams have 'been put into wrong Divisions, some higher and some lower than should be the case. There is accordingly no alternative but to withdraw the League Divisional Structure previously circulated and issue a new corrected version."
The letter states that the make-up of the divisions "had been compiled to reflect both the new single tier competition and also the implementation of Ground Categorisation criteria notified to Clubs back in 2001".
Clubs are asked to disregard the proposed 2004 league tables circulated at the end of 2003 and to use the replacements supplied in the document. The Management Committee apologised to teams placed in higher divisions who have now effectively been demoted.
As a consequence of the revision, the final fixture list for 2004 is bound to be delayed and clubs are asked to keep the delay to a minimum by not harrassing the League Fixture Secretary Mim Davies with unwelcome telephone calls.
The revised structure is as follows:
