The Derbyshire XXXX County Cricket League The DCCL are pleased to announce that with effect from 2005 they have a new major sponsor to replace the Derbyshire Building Society who served them so well for 27 years. The new sponsors are Interbrew (UK) Ltd. The initial three year agreement, which has a built in inflation factor, includes a new XXXX Trophy which will replace the former Silver Link Trophy, with appropriate awards to teams who reach the quarter final stage and beyond of that competition This information will be confirmed at the AGM of the League, which will take place at the County Ground on Wednesday January 5th at 7.30 pm when the representative of Interbrew, Ms Louise Arnold, will be present to hand over the cheque for 2005 to Chairman, Mr P M Hallows. Also at the AGM presentations will be made to the recipients of two Annual Awards, the Ted Hough Award and the Jack Briggs Award. The Ted Hough Award is made to honour a former player with Chaddesden and St Lukes, and goes to the youngest century maker in the League in Season 2004. Mr Alan Hough, the son of Ted Hough, will make the presentation to Rob McCarroll of Chesterfield, 14 year old, who scored 133 not out against Stonebroom. The Jack Briggs Awards are made to perpetuate the memory of Jack Briggs, a former player and League official, and they go to two players under the age of 19 years on May 1st each year who are playing in any Divisions in the League. Qualification for the awards cover performances in a minimum of six matches in the League during one season. For season 2004 the recipients are Thomas Bentley of Nutbrook who played in Division 2 and Paul Borrington of Ticknall whose performances were all in Division 1. These awards will be presented by Michael Dickinson, the Vice-Chairman of the League.
