Score board company prepare for brisk start to New Year Local company Jabba Design are gearing up for a brisk start to 2007 as clubs look to improve their facilities in time for the new season. Designed and manufactured by local cricketer Darren Shaw, Jabba produce a score board that is made of weatherproof products that packs away into a long box, which also has storage space for the stumps and boundary flags as well. Existing users are quick to praise the score board. One of the first to purchase one of the boards was Walmley Cricket Club. Tracey Burnett of EBM Limited in Erdington, Birmingham, who have sponsored the board for the youth team said: "Our youth section had been using a score board which was just a piece of painted wood, with tin numbers. We decided we would look for a new board as our youth team have done so well in the leagues, but everything was so expensive. It was while up at the Notts Indoor Centre that we came across the Jabba Design board. Perfect! Easy to assemble, easy to use, even for the youngest kids, and portable, which meant it could be locked away."
Chris Watterson of Woodborough Cricket Club told 'the follow on': "We had a memorial game last September which had players from various divisions playing. All agreed that the score board was ideal as it could be seen from all parts of the ground. The design of the board, and the materials used, suggest that it will serve us for many years to come and will require little maintenance other than the occasional wipe. From our perspective, we feel that the appearance of the score board has significantly enhanced the way in which our ground looks and the way in which it is perceived by visitors." Martin Matthews from Ernehale Cricket Club said: "It really does only take minutes to set up and pack away. We play our home games at Platt Lane, Keyworth which has a pretty large outfield. There is no problem seeing the score even from the far boundary. Our younger members enjoy setting up the board as well as using it. It really is so simple. The idea of using stencils to show through the background rather than have printed / painted numbers is ace as the numbers can't wear away. The quality, design and ease of use are second to none. As for the price, well you go on the net and look up score boards, for one with a display of this size you would need to add a couple of hundred pounds more, and that probably wouldn't be portable or have it's own stand."Finally Simon Whitfield from West Bridgford Legion said: "The quality of the board is excellent, the ease of use, well couldn't really be any simpler. For the price of the board alone you would expect to pay much more, never mind all the little added extras. The components are top quality and should anything get damaged can be replaced as individual items, so repairs will be cheap. All the clubs that have used the board at our home games have commented on how good it looks and also on how easy it is to use."

Shaw said: "We feel this is a good addition to any club. I was asked to come up with something after an accident earlier in the season with a tray and glasses that smashed everywhere."
