Marehay centenary week
by Colston Crawford, 4th July 2006

There is cricket all week at Marehay Cricket Club as they mark the club's centenary. On Wednesday, July 5, they have a prestigious fixture against the "other" MCC, the one from Marylebone, with an 11am start. Among the local players involved for the MCC are Ockbrook & Borrowash captain Matt Cassar, Alvaston & Boulton duo Tim and Tony Pope and Clifton's Matt Gouldstone.

The Follow On is represented in the MCC team too, in the not inconsiderable shape of Rollotomassi (Steve Rimmington) and Roger Bolstridge.

On Thursday, there is a friendly against a Radio Derby XI (5pm), with the radio station's Ross Fletcher broadcasting live from the ground. Derbyshire Border League Kwik Cricket finals are being held on Friday from 6pm. Barbecues will be held with both matches. And the first XI are at home to Alfreton in a Derbyshire Premier League local derby on Saturday, July 8.
