A.G.M. of the Bassetlaw Cricket League The Annual General Meeting of the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League took place at Cuckney Cricket Club. Mr. Malcolm Daniels the President took the chair and asked Mr. Gary France (Secretary) to read out the roll call. The only absentees from the meeting were Basford Mill, Weston, Wadworth, Rockware Glass and West Indian Cavaliers. All these clubs will be fined £20 for non-attendance as stated in League Rule 1.5 (viii). The minutes of the 2007 A.G.M. were taken as read and Mr. Daniels then asked Gary France to read out his report of the Management Committee. Following this Mr. Daniels then asked Mr. Peter Neale (Treasurer) for his financial report, and he drew laughter from the member clubs by stating that he was appointed on a temporary basis to do the job originally and now after preparing his 20th financial statement he might just be getting things right. He also stated that the balance sheet was now more like the normal one he presents and went on to thank auditor Roger Heath for his sterling work in putting everything together. The Officers and the Management Committee were then elected en-bloc for the 2008 season. Gary France then paid thanks to Malcolm Daniels for his sterling work as he neared the end of his year in office and then welcomed the President elect Mr. Keith Board of Waleswood and the new vice-chairman Mr. Michael Hall of Retford Cricket Club. The Annual Dinner and Prize Distribution will be held at the Masonic Hall, Worksop on Saturday 29th March when Ronnie Irani the former Essex and England all rounder and Talksport presenter will be the guest speaker. Mr. Bev Norris then outlined the problems that some sides presented by crossing out more dates when they couldn’t play from their proforma than dates available to get all their matches in. Of course this is impossible and some clubs will have to play on dates when they didn’t want to plus all the three Bank Holiday Monday’s. Finally Mr. John Leaning (Umpires Appointments Secretary) made his annual impassioned plea for more umpires to join the ranks. The situation is now so critical that many divisions will once again find themselves without any umpires and the league are extremely concerned about this. The meeting was then closed.
