Y&DCL under 21s debut in White Rose Trophy The Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League is pleased to announce their U-21 squad will be making their debut in the White Rose Trophy this season. The White Rose Trophy is an U-21 knock out tournament competed for by leagues throughout Yorkshire. The league sees the U-21’s involvement in the competition as a further step to offering well organised and competitive cricket to players of all ages throughout South Yorkshire & North East Derbyshire. It is testament that they are continually engaging young players in cricket. The squad is being sponsored by South Normanton based cricket supplier Owzat Cricket who has kindly supplied 15 shirts and caps for the competition. The squad will be under the guidance of Hathersage Cricket Club stalwart Steve Hutchinson and captained by Will Helliwell of Parkhead Cricket Club. Coach, Steve Hutchinson, is excited by the prospect of the Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Leagues’‘young guns’ pitting their wits against the cream of young cricketers from around Yorkshire. “It will be a good experience for our U-21’s to play against other players of their age from around Yorkshire and will hopefully show the rest of the region how strong the Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League really is”. The first match is against the Arrow Huddersfield Central League on Sunday 11th May at Stocksbridge Cricket Clubs’ Bracken Moor Ground. The match will be a 50 over per team affair and will start at 13:30. Admission to the ground will be £1 for adults and 50p concessions.
