Derbyshire County Cricket League report - 04/08/01 Abbey Glass Division 1 West Hallam 107-8 drew with Spondon 150-8 Spondon batted first and found runs difficult against some tight bowling, especially from Campbell Ogilvie (4-42). Murtaza Lodghar made 33 and Joe Ashdown 31. West Hallam also struggled and were well adrift at the close, with two wickets left and 43 runs short. Clifton 20-0 v Ticknall 201-7. No Result Ticknall batted confidently, with good knocks from Rob Dumelow (51) and Ryan Cowley (45). Umar Zamman took 3-43 for Clifton. The rain intervened shortly after Clifton had started their reply. Lullington Park 153-5 v Belper Meadows. No Result Lullington made hard work of their batting, but the game was over as rain intervened after 45 overs. David Mudd made 33 and and for Belper Ben Tait took 3-41. Mickleover 103-7 v Morton 222-4. No Result Mickleover were fortunate that the rain intervened at the point when they looked certain to lose. Morton's overseas player Scott Phillips was in fine form, scoring 133 not out and then taking 5-41 to send Mickleover reeling. Neil Else had contributed 42 to the Morton score and for Mickleover Mark Spencer (33) and Anthony Greatorex (41) dug in to avoid defeat. Shipley Hall 21-5 v Sawley 153-8 dec. No Result These two teams meet next Sunday at Denby in the Silver Link Trophy Final and Shipley will be hoping for better things. Sawley declared after 44 overs, hoping for a quick victory before the rain. John Birch had scored 36, Dan Birch 31 and John Moulton 31, with Simon Lacey taking 3-59. Shipley batted for only six overs and scored 21 runs, of which Stefan Gamble made 20. At the other end there was near disaster as Ahmed Gondal claimed five victims for no runs. Shipley must work out a stratagy for dealing with him. Staveley Welfare 233-6 v Elvaston 26-3. No Result A good batting display by Staveley saw Paul May get 75, Peter Camm 53 and Tim Russell 45. For Elvaston Ian Hall took 3-48. No doubt Elvaston had their minds on the Village Cup game on Sunday. Abbey Glass Division 2 Alvaston & Boulton 2nds 166 lost to Swarkestone 167-6 by 4 wickets Keith Gaskin made 53 for A&B and for Swarkestone Gavin Dilkes took 4-40 and Bruce Dilkes 3-32. In the Swarkestone reply Dave Dixon made 49 and Jim Wilcox 37. Rolleston 201-7 drew with Allestree 192-7 This was a close one, with Allestree just ten runs short in the end. This was disappointing considering that they were 100-0 at one stage. For Rolleston Sean Green made 52 and John Hall 84 not out. Ben Sarton had a good game for Allestree, taking 4-49 and then scoring 52. He was backed up by Matt Sirrell (61) and Chris Ruck (40). This winning draw keeps Rolleston in third place Ockbrook 2nds 208-5 beat Alfreton 207-5 by 5 wickets There were good knocks for Alfreton from Matt Linacre (58), Alan Gwatkin (30), and Andy Buckley(63), and for Ockbrook from Paul Darlington (46), Gareth Young (55) and Steve Rimmington (51 not out) Nutbrook 225-5 drew with Sandiacre Town 2nds 138-7 There was some good batting for Nutbrook from Matt Sisson (33), Mark Witham (59), Richard Henshaw (45) and Wes Essex (74 not out). Witham also excelled as a bowler, taking 4-38. Nick Briars held firm for Sandiacre, scoring 75 and Ben Ruhrmund took 3-19. Derbyshire Building Society Division 3A Ambergate 218-9 dec v Tibshelf . No Result Danny Walker was playing his last game for Ambergate before leaving for Kuwait on a teaching appointment. This was a game he will not forget because of the innings of Imran Ullah who scored 118. His hundred came up off 43 balls and the second fifty in just thirteen balls. Some of his sixes peppered the railway line. All to no avail because it was rained off after Ambergate declared Aston on Trent 191-4 beat Rolls Royce 189-7 by 6 wickets Mohammed Iqbal made 32 for Royces and Jason Greenway 65, with Shakeel Aslam taking 3-55. For Aston Syed Faisal made 70 not out and Khalid Mahmood 47 not out, with Mohammed Mahroof taking 4-69. Derby Congs 175 lost to Riddings 178-5 by 5 wickets For Congs David Illsley scored 37 and Steve Baines 53, and for Riddings Graham Hibbert took 3-52 and Frank Lowe 6-56. The Riddings reply was led by David North (49), Andy Houghton (43) and Graham Hibbert 40, with Mark Baines taking 4-94. Elvaston 2nds 128 lost to Little Eaton 132-5 by 5 wickets This was a good win for Little Eaton and it leaves them in a secure second place. Eddy Hodgson made 57 in Elvaston's low score. For Little Eaton Martin Krause took 4-48 and Keith Stevenson 3-18. Little Eaton's reply included 34 from Tom Wilton and 30 from Steve Muskett, with Andy Andy Barrett taking 3-47.
