Abbey Glass Division 1

Belper Meadows 89 lost to Sawley 107 by 18 runs

Sawley, already assured of promotion, put up a very ordinary performance. They were without their star performer, Ahmed Gondal and were shot out for a very modest total. It would have been worse without Danny Birch's 45. The damage was done by Carl Parkin, who took 7-23. For Belper there was ag ood knock from Amsey Hosein (38), but there was little support. There was another fine performance from Neil Smith who took 4-29 for Sawley.

Spondon 178 beat Ticknall 143 by 35 runs

This win took Spondon above Clifton, who were without a game. Their batsman struggled a bit, with top score from David Tainton (30). For Ticknall there were good spells from Zac Lucas (4-39) and Ryan Cowley (3-15). Ticknall also struggled, but Paul Sackley batted well for 49. Spondon's bowlers kept a tight rein, Lee Longden taking 4-25, Lee Fox 3-30 and Paul Cook 3-31.

West Hallam 109 lost to Shipley Hall 113 by 4 runs

This was desperately close. Shipley batted first and had a good start, with Stefan Gamble making 41 and Mark Starr 50. Then Campbell Ogilvie got amongst the wickets, taking 7-11, and with Chris Rudd taking 3-30 Shipley were in deep trouble. It was their bowlers who retrieved the situation,. with Neil Cox taking 3-18, Harvinder Sodhi 3-39 and Graham McDonough 3-28., but West Hallam will be upset at losing by such a narrow margin.

Lullington Park 186-8 lost to Staveley Welfare 187-5 by 5 wickets

Lullington compiled a decent score, with good knocks from Howard Dytham (36), Frank Watson 54, and James Ede 33. For Staveley Peter Camm took 6-51 and his brother Martin Camm boosted their score wirh 50, and with David Gray adding 81 they were comfortably home with 5 wickets to spare.

Abbey Glass Division 2

It had already been decided that Selston Town and Marehay will be promoted, but the issue of Championship winners has still to be resolved. Selston didn't have a game on Saturday.

Alvaston & Boulton 138-5 drew with Marehay 221-9

This was a game which Marehay needed to win, but the had to be satisfied with a winning draw. They made a good score, thanks to good knocks from Danny Parkin (61) and Andy Walters (35). For A&B Tony Pope took 4-88 and Mohammed Ayub 3-33. When A&B batted they were held up by Tim Pope (41 not out) and Chris Hodgetts (30). It hasn't been a good season for A&B 2nds and they will be relegated. Who joins them will be decided in the last game between Brailsford and Swarkestone, with only two points separating them

Derbyshire Building Society Division 3A

Denby could have strengthened their position at the top with a win over Chaddesden, but they narrowly lost.

Chaddesden 102-8 beat Denby 2nds 100 by 2 wickets

Denby's batting disappointed. Robert Clark took 4-22 for Chaddesden and Simon Mann almost pulled it off for Denby by taking 5-27, but with Martin Summers scoring 36 Chaddesden scraped home.
