Abbey Glass Division 1

Five of the six games were completed in this Division.

Elvaston 70 lost to Sawley 73-1 by 9 wickets

Elvaston were evidently thinking of the Village Cup Semi-Final on Sunday. However, Ahmed Gondal was fully focused on this match as he devastated the Elvaston innings, taking 8-38. Six of these were clean bowled and the other two were lbw. Sawley lost one wicket before John Birch (33 not out) and his son Dan Birch (24 not out) saw them comfortably home before the rain came.

Clifton 263-6 drew with Belper Meadows 158-8

Clifton batted before the rain came and piled on the runs. There was another splendid knock from Con de Lange (125), with good support from Phil Davies (53). For Belper Scott Sager took 4-72. The Belper innings was affected by the wet conditions, but Clifton were close to victory when the overs ran out. Dave King was Belper's top scorer with 56, and for Clifton Lee Ali took 3-33 and Umar Zamman 3-22. Clifton are now 38 points behind Sawley but they are still striving for the top spot.

Shipley Hall 171-9 lost to Spondon 176-9 by 1 wicket

A very close match, with the result decided by a four off the very last ball. Mark Starr top scored for Shipley with 51, and for Spondon there was an inspired spell from Murtaza Lodghar who took 6-27. In the Spondon reply Zak Hussain made 30 and Sam Kellogg 32, with Harvinder Sodhi taking 4-62.

Staveley Welfare 61-5 beat Ticknall 59 by 5 wickets

This game was over before the rain. Ticknall's batting let them down, but they had to contend with some accurate bowling from Peter Camm (6-29). Staveley also struggled, with Graham Chamberlain taking 4-32.

West Hallam 258-6 drew with Mickleover 157-8

West Hallam's big score owed much to another fine knock from their overseas player Campbell Ogilvie who made 123. It was good to see skipper Steve Attenborough back in action after injury and he demonstrated his fitness by scoring 55 not out..Chris Bolton took 3-55 for Mickleover, whose batsmen had difficult conditions to contend with, but they held out for the draw. Anthony Greatorex made 57 and Matt Spencer 34, with West Hallam's Stuart Rainer taking 3-42.

Lullington Park 194-8 v Morton 109-7. No Result.

This was a good score by Lullington, with Howard Dytham making 50, Scott Cameron 38, and Andrew Goodwin 42 not out. Nigel Mallinder took 4-28 for Morton and then batted well in difficult conditions to make 39. David Mudd took 4-25 as Lullington applied the pressure, but Morton held firm with three wickets in hand

Abbey Glass Division 2

Allestree 133-9 lost to Alfreton 135-2 by 8 wickets

Matt Sirrell made 53 not out for Allestree, with Ian Redpath taking 3-29 for Alfreton. The Alfreton reply saw Matt Linacre score 50 and Andy Gwatkin 56 not out.

Nutbrook 176-5 beat Alvaston & Boulton 87 by 89 runs

For Nutbrook Matt Sisson scored 41, David Hack 40 and David Sturt 52 not out, with Mick Ottewell taking 3-22 for A&B. The A&B innings collapsed to Matt Sisson (5-28) and David Hack (3-9).

Ockbrook 2nds 143-7 lost to Sandiacre 2nds 146-1 by 9 wickets

Gareth Young was top scorer for Ockbrook with 32 not out, and for Sandiacre Mike Ruhrmund took 5-38. The Sandiacre reply was dominated by Adrian Taylor (55) and Steve Brown (46 not out).

Rolleston 124 lost to Brailsford 170-8 by 46 runs

Ian Clark made 73 in the Brailsford innings and Sam Hickman took 3-33 for Rolleston. John Hall was top scorer for Rolleston with 35, but they batted under worsening conditions which were fully exploited by Pat Lawless (5-46) and Ian Clark (3-41).

Derbyshire Building Society Division 3A

Ambergate 114 lost to Chaddesden 122 by 8 runs

An exciting finish, with Ambergate's last wicket falling off the last ball. Rob Clark top scored for Chaddesden with 44, and for Ambergate Phil Mason took 4-19. Rob Marshall was not out on 32 for Ambergate, and Chaddesden's John Wayne took 4-48.

Aston on Trent 198-4 beat Little Eaton 194 by 6 wickets

A rare defeat for Little Eaton. They built up a useful score, with contributions from Tom Wilton (35), Andy Jeffery (36) and Matt Wilton (42). Bowling for Aston Rafaqat Ali took 5-56. There were two excellent knocks in Aston's reply, Eddy Reavill made 74 not out and Syed Faisal 82, with Little Eaton's Martin Krause taking 4-38.
