Greatorex top scores in massive Newstead total Top scorer of the day was Ian Greatorex, whose 130* with Phil Collins’ 50 took Newstead Abbey Village II to a massive 253/5, 156 more than Willoughby could find. However the highest total of the day came from Newstead III XI who hit 263/9 with Matt Thrower 120, they beat Caythorpe IV by 148 runs to round off a great day for the club. Clifton Village II march on at the top of 2A with another comfortable victory, this time away at winless Collingham II, Jeff Kemp (7/55) held Collingham to just 118/9 a total passed with 5wkts to spare. Andrew Wilson (116*) led the way as Southwell II (223/5) got the best of a draw at home to Kimberley II (142/9). Attenborough II (194/9) inflicted a damaging defeat on Plumtree II (110) who remain 2nd but some distance adrift of Clifton. Unity Casuals II’s (166/2) much needed victory over Radcliffe II (165) eases them nearer to the pack despite still remaining bottom of 2A. Hucknall’s (170/8) losing draw at home to Wollaton (196/5) doesn’t help their plight. 2B leaders Gedling Colliery (189/9) slipped up to 2nd place Long Eaton (191/8) who were led to victory by an unbeaten 104 from Tim Murfin. Gotham (158/4) reversed the 1A result by beating Eastwood (156/7) who are with Ellerslie holding up the league. Ellerslie (146/6) got the poor end of a draw away at Notts. Amateurs (239/6). Gedling & Sherwood (190/9) comfortably saw off Lady Bay Boots (144). Bramcote’s Mel Woods (122) along with Tom Yates (54) helped them compile 249/6, a score Kirkby Portland had hopes of reaching until finishing 25 short as the overs ran out. Calverton’s (241/6) captain, Peter Wright 76, led by example at Caythorpe III to keep the pressure on in 2nd place. There was a much needed win for Loughborough Carillon (202/4) over fellow strugglers Risley (198/6), just a 3rd of a point separates the two at the bottom of 2C. Attenborough III are the only side in the league who have played and won all 7 games, this they passed the 67 set by Underwood II with 7wkts to spare. 13 year old Danny Williams’ 4/9 helped bowl out Awsworth II for just 69, as Kimberley III won by 7wkts. Thrumpton continue to dominate the league chasing 2nd place Sawley III (141) with 1wkt to spare. Another youngster doing well was Ruddington II’s 15 yr old Arron Chadwick (68) who hit a maiden 50 as his side racked up 200 to beat Lambley by 102 runs. West Bridgford Legion II’s (115/4) bowler Steve Davies had an interesting day taking 7/33, the best of the weekend, to bowl Hucknall III out for 112. Beeston (110/5) move top of 2F beating Long Whatton (108). Wilsons II (175/6), are 2nd after victory at Farndon II (124). 2G’s leading bowler Chris Handley of Clifton Village took a hat-trick in the 1st over of the game at Toton Sycamore. Earlier Clifton hit 147/8, Sycamore could only manage 94 after Handley’s (4/15) attack. Plumtree III (115/9) remain top having won a close battle at Thrumpton III (114/9). Long Eaton (106), bowled former leaders Snibston Grange II out for 104 to win by 2 runs. Belvoir III (145), looked set for a rare victory until Collingham III (146/9) crept past their total with 1 ball and wicket to spare.
