Hampshire 124 for imposing Hundall

The fine weather over the weekend led to some equally fine batting performances with centuries being struck in the top three divisions. Leading the way in Division One was Alan Hampshire, brother of test umpire John, who made 124 in Hundall's imposing 236-6 declared. Chris Pursehouse then took 4-23 to see Baslow dismissed for 136 and send his side twenty three points clear at the top.

Stanton In Peak climbed to second with victory over Old Edwardians / Collegiate. Stanton were bowled out for 107 (Rusby 4-23) and in turn bowled out Old Eds for just 67 (Rosling 4-11). Dronfield Woodhouse made 127 (S.Walker 4-29) away at University Staff, who reached the winning post with four wickets in hand (Kerry 59 no) and bagged third place.

The previous weeks second placed side, De La Salle, suffered a shock defeat at Centralians. Cents made 128-8 but sent back De La Salle for just 87, seeing them fall down the table. Hathersage were bowled out for 124 by Sheffield Works Department, who could only manage 92 in reply, putting Hathersage level on points with De La Salle. In a high scoring affair, Parkhead made 242-4 declared (Bowers 71, Welton 48 no, Jones 56) away at Stocksbridge, who achieved the draw at 171-9 (Price 45, Clayton 5-45).

Division Two's centurion was James Pearson of Holmesfield, who made 101 out of his side's 217-9 at home to leaders Grindleford. Pearson followed that up with three wickets in Grindleford's reply of 154-7 (Marshall 59). Ashford In The Water move into second. Old Edwardians / Collegiate II posted 122-9 (A.Leiper 54, J.Carrington 5-41) which was passed by Ashford for the loss of three wickets (Paulette 66).

Sheffield Works Department II made 154-8 (Ian Lake 65, John Summerhill 43) and then dismissed Stocksbridge II for 106 (Iain Mallett 4-12) to take third spot. Millhouses registered 152 (Gaubert 63, Daniels 5-34) which was surpassed by Chesterfield Barbarians for the loss of three wickets (Marriott 70). Parkhead II dismissed Bakewell for 125 (Luckraft 53, Spilman 4-15) and gained victory with five wickets to spare (Smith 69 no).

Calver claimed top spot in Division Three with a total of 235-4 (M.Burnett 123 no) against Millhouses II. Millhouses made a valiant effort thanks to Ibrar (53) but were eventually dismissed for 190 (Mundy 5-55). Second placed Centralians II scored 171-7 (Schofield 54) away at De La Salle II, who managed 80-9 in reply.

University Staff II bowled out Dronfield Woodhouse II for 101 (A.Lone 6-58) and achieved the win with two wickets in hand despite 7-40 from John Bridgett. Laycocks move up the table, scoring 140-6 (Jewitt 43) in reply to Calow's 139-9 (Roger Wainwright 4-26). Dronfield Sports II passed Hathersage II's 121-8 with three wickets down (Wigzell 39, Raja 37).

BT Pensions / AGD I hold on to top spot in Division Four. Having restricted Calow II to 105-9 (Alan Shawcroft 4-37), the team from Duckmanton Lodge replied with 108-4. Peter Evans claimed 5-34 to dismiss Pensions second string for just 83 and see his Ridgeway side into second by virtue of a seven wicket victory. Third placed Richland Wanderers made 143-8 (Shaw 4-20) away at Baslow II, who were dismissed for just 47 (Steve Brocklehurst 6-26). Transport were sent back for just 31 (Ward 5-10) by Zingari, who cruised to a ten wicket success.

Andy Wood's 4-25 saw Stocksbridge III all out for 95, which was passed by Coal Aston with four wickets down. Jack Fletcher (43) guided Chesterfield Barbarians II past Great Longstone's total of 101.
