Killamarsh through to semis A tremendous performance by Division 2 side Killamarsh proved much too much for their Division 4 rivals Waleswood in the Quarter Finals of the Mallen Trophy on Sunday. Batting first Killamarsh made a massive 256 for 5 in their 40 overs with the Waleswood attack being on the end of a fearful hiding as Paul Burdett (51) and the swashbuckling blade of Peter Allen who made a magnificent 146 n.o. which included five towering sixes saw them take a tremendous toll on the bowling. Waleswood simply had no answer to Allen who scored his runs in 28 overs and one wonders how many he would have made had he been there from the start. In reply Waleswood were bowled out for 121 with Glen McKay making a hard hitting 64 but the support was never enough to help him to challenge the Killamarsh score. David Allen (4 for 15) and Parmindar Mudhar (3 for 29) did the damage as Killamarsh moved forward to the semi-finals. After last season’s disappointment in which they were relegated, Killamarsh are set to reverse the trend and have a great chance of moving back to the top section. Their cup run is an added bonus and they must be delighted with the form shown so far. Results for Sunday 25 th July - Mallen Trophy – Round 2 At Sheffield Road : KILLAMARSH 256 for 5 (Paul Burdett 51, Peter Allen 146 n.o.) beat WALESWOOD 121 all out (Glen McKay 64, David Allen 4 for 15, Parmindar Mudhar 3 for 29) by 135 runs.
