Plumtree 2nds finish in style A shortened programme of fixtures saw a staggering 7 centuries in only 27 games. The most crucial centurion was Phil Garner whose 101* helped Plumtree III to 219/3 against 3rd placed Snibston Grange II in division P. Plumtree III then set about the Snibston batting that at times offered resistance but never threatened victory; Plumtree secured their record breaking 16th win of the season to become the first team ever to complete a full season’s fixtures undefeated. In CD, Plumtree II (107/5) completed an easy victory over Lady Bay Boots (106) to win the title, with Alex Sheriston taking 4/10. Long Whatton who have held a promotion place in EF all season were dismissed for 93 away at Whatton Aslockton (95/1) who lay 5th from bottom in the division. Having collected no points from the game Long Whatton slipped to 3rd as West Indian Caribs wrapped up an easy victory away to Ravenshead giving Caribs the runners-up spot. On Sunday they completed a second season of promotion and cup double beating Carrington Cavaliers (227/6) in the Raleigh Cup final by 5 wickets. Captain Shabir Dad received the man of the match award of a Gunn & Moore bat whilst Carrington’s Kaiser Altaf (55) was a close second. The cup final yielded 104 extras. Leaders of EF Lady Bay Boots II (129) slipped to defeat away to Notts Unity Casuals II (144/8). GH was the closest fought of all the leagues as any of 3 teams could win the league going into the final games. 3rd placed Snibston Grange (96) were the first to fall as Thurgarton II (97/3) won by 7 wickets. In division J the two relegated sides fought out what transpired to be a one-sided battle. So dominant was Loughborough Carillon II’s Robert Masaru (128*) that Carillon declared on 236/5. Woodborough battled to 152/8 but both sides are relegated for consecutive seasons. Glenn Morley’s 93 saw Lambley to 205/7, a total Keyworth (141) could not match and with defeat they missed out on promotion. In division R, Ellerslie III’s (155/4) Richard Garner rounded off an impressive performance with 106* as earlier his bowling (4/17) had helped reduced West Bridgfordians III to 151/8. On Sunday in the Home Brewery Cup Final, Notts Unity Casuals (269/6) continued their fine end of season form by beating Clifton Village II by 148 runs.
