Plumtree need 18 points to stop Gedling from stealing the championship if they beat Rolls Royce. Alasdair Culpin returned a personnel best of 9/14 as Bottesford (93/0) dented Gedling Sherwood’s (72) promotion hopes in Division B. Third placed Gotham Village (166/8) gave their hopes a major boost beating Hucknall (118) and require just 2 points more than Sherwood in next week’s games to pinch promotion. Hucknall slip to Division C with Clifton Village II (176/8) were they only promotion hopeful side to play in CD and they made full use of the opportunity as they claimed maximum points against Wymeswold (121). Chilwell slumped to the day’s lowest score of 34 against neighbours Beeston (36/1). Gedling Colliery II (162), who were undefeated after their first 10 games, have now lost 5 of the last seven, Lady Bay Boots II (185) were the latest side to beat them to maintain top spot. Division GH is turning in to a pressure pot as any of 3 can win the league or miss out on promotion. There was a win for Eastwood Town II (257/9) over Ellerslie II (58) with Stuart Hill hitting 84. Calverton II (238/5) also won, with Chris Miller (61) contributing to the defeat of A tense finish to Sutton Bonington’s (157/6) game at home to Newstead (155/9) as the game swung every direction before Sutton came out winners by 1 run. Hoveringham, who needed just one point to be champions of Div K, took all 20 points on offer as they beat Lambley (78) by 6 wickets. Willoughby OTW II were dismissed for 83 at home to Belvoir II who took all but 3 balls of their allotted overs to pass the target having lost 9 wickets. Old Paviors heroes Neil Davey (47*) and Andy Polkey (37*) put on 90 for the 9th wicket to pass Stoke Bardolph’s 143/6 and give them a slim chance of avoiding relegation. Plumtree III are just 2 games away from the perfect season as they won for the 14th time. Club chairman Philip Garner hit the day’s highest individual score of 131* as Plumtree amassed the day’s highest score of 265/2, 180 more than Thrumpton III turned on a champion’s winning performance away at Toton Sycamore II. Tony Downie (100*) and Trevor Vennett-Smith (65) contributed to 238/2. Sycamore fell short despite a personal best 116 for Peter Gawthorpe.
