Holmesfield new leaders as Hundall slump continues

Holmesfield are the new leaders of Division One. They dismissed defending champions Hundall for just 49 (Chris Banks 4-18) and raced to an eight wicket victory. Hundall have now suffered three defeats in their opening four fixtures.

Previous leaders De La Salle were also soundly beaten. They were bowled out for 73 (Tom Marvin 6-39) by division newcomers Ashford, who claimed a resounding nine wicket first win with Andrew Paulett making 46 not out. Centralians managed to restrict Stanton to 126 (Gladwin 86, Webb 6-46) and achieve a six wicket success to move into third (Rhodes 40 no).

University Staff recorded a first win of the season, bowling out Baslow for 134 (S.Khan 7-58) and passing the target with nine wickets in hand (Paul Kerry 88 no). Old Edwardians / Collegiate piled up 222-9 (Matt Root 106 no) at SWD, who replied with 168-7 (Chris Street 5-23). Parkhead made 150-9 away at Hathersage, who were guided to safety by Paddy Campbell (43 no) at 108-7.

Chesterfield Barbarians maintain their challenge at the top of Division Two. They dismissed Stocksbridge I for 110 (Paul Daniels 4-24) and reached their target with six wickets down (John Nellis 43, Kevin Marriott 40 no). SWD II took a giant leap up the table with a crushing win over Stocksbridge II. SWD made 179 (Burley 48, Wilson 60, Rolfe 6-22) and rolled over the home side for just 51 (Brown 7-24). Grindleford were sent back for just 80 (T.Outram 43, S.Mumtaz 4-32, Adeel Sarwar 4-36) by Millhouses, who won by three wickets. Bakewell amassed 172-7 (J.Madin 101) at Parkhead II, who claimed the draw at 87-5.

Last year's Division Four champions BT Pensions / AGD continue to head Division Three. They restricted Hundall II to 147-7 and claimed a comfortable eight wicket win. De La Salle II are hot on their heels following victory over University Staff II. De La Salle posted 157-9 (T.Wainwright 68 no, Maqsood 4-27) and bowled out the University men for exactly 100.

Laycocks hold third spot following victory over Calow. Poiney (49 no) guided Calow to 115-6, which was passed by Laycocks for the loss of four men (Alan Hackett 41). Dronfield Woodhouse opened their campaign with 125-9 (Kevin Tann 4-20) at Richland Wanderers. John Bridgett (5-20) sealed a 23 run win for Woodhouse, despite a hard hitting 71 from man of the match Kevin Tann. Old Edwardians / Collegiate II began their season with 168 (Richard Tasker 56) at home to Centralians, who claimed a four wicket success (Verity 77 no).

Zingari have opened up a twenty point gap at the top of Division Four. They dismissed Great Longstone for just 88 and recorded a five wicket win. Transport eased into second with the greater points in a drawn game against Coal Aston. Transport declared at 194-8 (Kadir 97, Marpole 4-42) as Coal Aston closed on 130-5.

The highest scoring game of the day came at Baslow, where Millhouses II rattled up 229-7 (Azhar 61, Dewsbury 63, Mather 4-62). The home side came away with the draw, just six runs short of the Millhouses total thanks to 77 from Tony Sadler. Chesterfield Barbarians II registered 114-6 at BT Pensions / AGD II, who were dismissed for 99.
