Ridgeway take over at the top of four

After a slow start to the season, Ridgeway have become the latest side to take over as leaders of Division Four. They restricted fellow challengers Millhouses II to 167-7 (Azhar 53, Searle 42, Burke 4-59) and achieved a seven wicket victory (McLoughlin 56 no). Transport maintained their challenge with a comfortable win over Great Longstone. Dave Barber (92 no) and John Maiden (77 no) allowed Transport to declare at 222-3 and Garth Lewis (7-35) saw Longstone dismissed for 63.

Coal Aston stay in the hunt in third place following a large winning draw against BT Pensions / AGD II. Aston declared at 186-4 (John Lawrence 87) and restricted their visitors to 85-9. Barry Croft (75 no) and Dave Turner (137 no) posted an unbeaten 229 for Dronfield Sports at Stocksbridge III, who were bowled out for 100 in reply. Chesterfield Barbarians II scored 161-9 (Tony Sadler 5-53) and sent back Baslow II for 75 (Paul Wileman 4-16).

De La Salle continue to forge on at the head of Division One. They confined Baslow to 138-8 (Elleker 60, Heath 4-33) and romped to a ten wicket win (Hartley 75 no, White 57 no). Second placed Old Edwardians / Collegiate were bowled out for 131 (Ashley Webster 66) but Ashford fell just short at 121-9 (Chris Street 5-35). Hathersage continue their climb up the table into third place after defeating Centralians. Cents posted a competent 172-7 (Stow 64) which was passed by Hathersage with five men in hand (Burnip 55).

Simon Pass (68) and Lee Stewart (61) guided SWD to an imposing 282-8 at Parkhead, who replied with 217-6 (Altaf Junaid 58, Ian Davis 59). Second bottom University Staff were bowled out for 179 (P.Kerry 53, J.Nichol 49, G.Badcock 4-16) by Hundall, who reached their target for the loss of two men (N.Vaughan 46, M.Dawson 74 no). Stanton compiled 178-7 (Nick Rosling 46, Jimmy Pearson 5-53) and Holmesfield attained the draw at 160-6 (Neil Pearson 45 no, Dave Rosling 6-71).

Calver still head Division Two, albeit with a slightly diminished lead. In their top of the table clash with Grindleford, they made 190-6 (Hilton 61) and saw the home side fall just short at 177-9 (Outram 55, Ford 57, Mundy 4-56, Hallows 4-43). Stocksbridge I are in second place by virtue of a forfeited match by Hathersage II.

Chesterfield Barbarians and Millhouses hold fourth and fifth spots respectively but it was Millhouses who came out on top in their game at Millhouses Park. Millhouses were bowled out for 155 (T.Gaubert 40) but managed to dismiss the Barbs for 96. SWD II were sent back for 140 (Dan Franklin 49, Ian Gregory 5-16) but achieved an eight run victory against Parkhead II thanks to Jason Thompson (4-15). Bakewell rattled up 226-6 (Luckraft 73 no, Fearn 54) but saw Stocksbridge II block out for the draw at 82-7.

Dronfield Woodhouse are the new leaders of Division Three. They skittled fellow contenders Centralians II for just 58 (Simon Turner 5-20, John Bridgett 4-4) and claimed a seven wicket success. In the other top of the table contest, previous leaders Laycocks were beaten by BT Pensions / AGD. Pensions scored 149-6 (Mark Hawkins 42) and Paul Ramsdale took 6-21 to see Laycocks all out for 67.

Matt Green's 100 not out allowed De La Salle II to declare at 212-7 but Old Edwardians / Collegiate II held out at 68-9 (Paul Lally 6-14). Hundall II were bowled out for 194 (John Allender 47, Stephen Bayston 47, John Johnson 5-56) by Calow, who gained the draw at 137-6 (John Smith 66). University Staff II forfeited their fixture against Richland Wanderers.
