Cavaliers through in a canter In the short space of 24 hours, Whitwell Cricket Club went from the heights of sheer delight to the depths of despair with two amazing results that bore no resemblance to each other. On Saturday they put their struggling league form miles behind them by beating high flying Blidworth by three wickets and then on Sunday it was back to the bad old days as they slumped to a ten wicket defeat against West Indian Cavaliers 2 nd in the Tomlin Trophy. Batting first Whitwell were never functioning at all and were dismissed for a pathetic 109 runs with Matt Clarke taking 6 for 28 in a bright eight over spell. This total was never going to provide a problem to the ‘Cavs’ and their opening pair of Danny Frankson (33 n.o.) and Nish Waduge (54 n.o.) put the Whitwell attack to the sword and quickly knocked off the required runs without loss. The Cavaliers now face a very attractive second round tie against Thoresby Colliery who stand third in Division 1 at this moment in time. At The Rookery: - WHITWELL 109 all out (Matt Clarke 6 for 28) lost to WEST INDIAN CAVALIERS 110 for 0 (Danny Frankson 33 n.o., Nish Waduge 54 n.o.) by ten wickets.
