Durham County Senior League v Mansfield & District League 2 nd Round Tie played at Felling CC, Gateshead.Durham batted first and was put under intense pressure from the Mansfield opening bowler K. Jayasinghe (10-6-14-2). The heart was ripped out the home side in the 9 th over with KC clean bowling Potter and Shields. Will Butler replaced KC and continued to put Durham under pressure and his 4 th over had Wright LBW then he bowled a fine away swinger to have the dangerous Ellison (44) caught by Adam Burgess at slip. Darren Walker finish a tidy opening spell of 10-1-49-0 and was replaced by Dave Loveridge (9-0-44-2) who continued to ask the batsman questions and captured the wicket of Dunn in his 2 nd caught by Dave Wilcock then picked the wicket of Lowther smartly caught by Captain Mark Langford. Jonathon Ball (5-0-25-2) and Will Butler (8-2-20-4) mopped up the tail with 2 wickets each. It was a very disciplined bowling and fielding performance by the Mansfield League to bowl Durham out for 158. Adam Burgess and Will Butler opened the innings and faced some hostile bowling from the Durham opening bowlers. Will was adjudged LBW to Shakespeare in bowlers first over. Lee Topham joined Adam and the both seemed to have weathered the storm however Lee fell to slip catch off the bowling of Muchall in the 9 th over. The partnership of 16 year old Matt New and Adam saw off the new ball and short pitch bowling. The pair put 137 runs before Wightman bowled Adam Burgess for a superb 64 with just 4 required win. Matt New showed what a tremendous prospect he is with a chanceless 69 not out and was later presented with the Man of the Match Trophy by the League President Dennis Cooke. The Captain Mark Langford and all team members were a credit to the Mansfield League and the performance was exceptional to say the least. Match result Mansfield and District League beat Durham County Senior League by 6 wickets and will play the Bassetlaw League in the Quarter Final .
