Nottinghamshire Over 50s cruise to last eight The Nottinghamshire Over 50s side is through to the last eight of the ECB Over 50s Cup after an easy success against Lincolnshire Over 50s at Ownby By Spital. Both teams finished runners-up in their respective leagues and it was the Notts side who won the play-off to go through to the quarter finals. Lincolnshire won the toss and batted first in magnificent surroundings, scoring 170 from their 45 overs. This looked like being a much higher score as their opening pair were going at four an over until they lost their first wicket with 80 on the board. Mike Moseley (3 for 32) and Paul Robinson (2 for 26) put the brakes on Lincolnshire and some good fielding kept the score low. In reply Nottinghamshire knocked off the required runs with eight overs to spare for the loss of only two wickets. Henderson Jordan (82), continued his good form which has seen him amass over 400 runs, including two centuries, in his last five innings. Nigel Turner was 32 not out as Nottinghamshire crossed the finishing line. Team: Pete Fairhall (Clifton), Alan Bullock (unattached), Henderson Jordan (Retford), Mike Moseley (Retford), Nigel Turner (Bridon), Richard Pallister (Notts and Arnold), Ray Black (Worksop), Mel Wood (Bramcote), Brian Woods (Thoresby Colliery), Paul Robinson (Bramcote), Mick Coote (Collingham). 12th man: Cyril Martin (Milton). In the quarter finals Nottinghamshire travel to East Dereham on Sunday (7th) to play Norfolk with a 1:00pm start. If successful Nottinghamshire will have a home tie in the semi final.
