Khan fifty as Works storm to victory Sheffield Works Department stormed to victory in Division One's clash of the top two teams. Home club and second placed Parkhead made a useful 212-7 (Gary Wheatley 69, Ian Davies 68, Lee Stewart 4-59) in the first knock. Works reached that target with nine overs and seven men to spare as Marcus Burley (80) and Rafaquat Khan, with an eighteen ball fifty, let fly. In third place and making an outside challenge are Ashford In The Water. They inflicted another defeat on bottom side Chesterfield Barbarians, who were bowled out for 72 (A.Finney 4-22), allowing an eight wicket success. Last year's champions Hundall went down to a fourth defeat of the season despite posting a competent 187-8 (M.Dawson 47no, C.Purshouse 48, M.Gayle 4-35). De La Salle claimed the win with a similar number of wickets down (White 65, Willey 45no, Hughes 4-55). Hathersage's good run came to an end at the hands of Stanton. Dave Hadfield (48) guided the visitors to 131 all out (Lee Woolway 5-33) and Dave Clark (6-18) saw 'Sage back in the pavilion for just 71. Calver were bowled out for 97 (P.Westwood 4-35, P.Silcock 4-48) by Holmesfield, who triumphed by seven wickets (T.Lumb 46no). Stocksbridge firsts gained the upper hand in their local 'derby' and held their lead of Division Two. They rattled up 254-8 (S.Perry 77, J.Spawton 43, R.Marshall 4-97) and restricted their second eleven to 142-7 (R.Hunter 41). Game of the day in the division came at Millhouses Park, where the home side amassed an imposing 222-7 (Russell Walch 119no). Second placed University Staff could only reply with 158-6 (J.Nichol 47, J.Hibbert 48). Tom Taylor (4-34) and Matt Ryalls (6-39) combined to bowl Bakewell out for just 77. Baslow crept to a two wicket win despite 5-24 from the prolific Roy Peach. Parkhead II registered 180-8 thanks to Duncan Burnett (45) and Ian Spilman (62no). Home side SWD II fell just short at 166-7. Grindleford were bowled out for 115 by Centralians II, who claimed a six wicket win. Hathersage II stole a march on Dronfield Woodhouse in the bottom of the table clash. Alan Parker (65) and Steve Vessey (62) steered Woodhouse to a competitive 210-4 but saw Ben Drury (121) and Simon Loseby (59no) guide Hathersage home by seven wickets. De La Salle II took advantage of a week off for second placed Sheepbridge to open up a twenty eight point gap at the top of Division Three. Nick Howard took 4-33 to bowl Hundall II out for 102 and saw Alan George (46no) bring De La Salle to a nine wicket success. Third placed Richland Wanderers also took the chance to make up some ground. They dismissed Millhouses II for 107 (Ray Dewsbury 57no, Mark Wilmott 4-22). Skipper Andy Tann (61no) saw his side to a ten wicket win inside twenty overs. Just a point behind are Transport. They were bowled out for 126 (Ian Owens 43, Jimmy Sharman 4-22) by Coal Aston, who could only manage 98 in reply (Matt Sanderson 55, Phil Cotterill 4-25). On Sunday, University Staff II were restricted to 148-8 by Ridgeway, who gained a six wicket win thanks to Kevin Roberts (60no). Walkley head the Division Four tables by a thirty three point margin after another victory on Sunday. They made 164 all out (David Dart 5-49) at Chesterfield Barbarians II, who succumbed to Tony Dalman (5-2) for just 76. Third placed Sheepbridge II compiled a huge 253 all out thanks to Glen Bramwell (101) and Keith Barrett (41). In reply, Dronfield Sports made 189-4 thanks to Chris Edwards (90) and Neil Medforth (45). Stocksbridge III were bowled out for 168 (D.Green 46, C.Stewart 4-45) by Hallam, who in turn were bowled out for 149 (S.Frost 66, J.McNeil 7-41). In the Knockout Cup Quarter Finals, Collegiate were bowled out for 152 at home to University Staff. Veteran campaigner Dave Seal (4-11) saw Staff all out for 93. SWD posted an impressive 275-6 (S.Pass 49, G.Brown 72no) and dismissed Transport for 93 (I.Owens 47no, R.Ghose 4-17, J.Hill 5-14).
