by David Bell, 6th June 2005

Sheffield Works Department continue to set the pace at the head of Division One. They bowled Hathersage out for 86 on Saturday and claimed a seven wicket win. Just three points behind are Parkhead. They gained an eight wicket victory thanks to Altaf Junaid (47no) and Edman Bowers (40no) after earlier bowling Centralians out for 98.

Also moving into the equation are Collegiate. They posted 169-6 (Dunn 63, Langdale 55) at De La Salle, who were subsequently dismissed for 107 (Winter 4-28). Game of the day again came at Holmesfield where Hundall registered a competitive 238-6 (David Marsh 80). In reply, the home side fell just short at 223-9 despite 61 from Tom Hamilton.

University Staff are the new leaders of Division Two. Dave Needham took 4-22 to skittle Stocksbridge II for just 37 and see his side gain an eight wicket success. Second placed Stocksbridge firsts were bowled out for 174 (Craig Allen 52, Simon Turner 7-58) by Dronfield Woodhouse, who could only muster 64 in reply (Chris Siddall 4-12). Rittu Ghose claimed 4-44 to bowl Hathersage II all out for 101 and see his SWD II side gain a five wicket win (Dan Franklin 49no, Kevn Rowney 5-45).

Bakewell were restricted to 85-9 thanks to Ikrar Khan (5-13). Adeel Sarwar (59no) then guided Millhouses home for the loss of one man in just seventeen overs. Centralians II made a decent 215-9 (Paul Kennedy 106, John Belfitt 44no, Ian Spilman 7-72) at Parkhead II, who made it home with three men in hand thanks to an unbeaten century from Vishnu Gopal (122no). Adam Cornes took 4-29 to bowl Baslow out for 135 and then hit 50 to steer Grindleford to a seven wicket win.

Sheepbridge triumphed in the top of the table clash with De La Salle II in Division Three. They bowled the visitors out for just 63 (D.Hulett 4-11, B.Chambers 4-30) and achieved victory with seven men in hand. Richland Wanderers move into second place. They bowled Transport out for 85 (Mark Wilmott 4-39) and crawled to the win with two men to spare. Collegiate caused a shock by defeating high flying Ridgeway. Richard Foulkes (53) saw the visitors to a nine wicket win after bowling Ridgeway out for 102. Hundall II registered 120 (Shaw 52no) at home to lowly Coal Aston, who reached the win with five men down (Buckle 46no). Making steady progress up the table are Millhouses II.
