Barbarians skittled as Walkley secure promotion Division Four leaders Walkley are the first side to be promoted this season. Tony Dallman (5-18) and Tony Frith (4-10) saw bottom side Chesterfield Barbarians II back in the pavilion for just 81. A nine wicket win followed and sees Walkley needing only seven more points to secure the divisional title. A James Twomey hat-trick saw Stocksbridge III skittled for 75 and allowed second placed Hallam to claim a seven wicket success. Although favourites to secure second place, Hallam can still be caught by the five sides below them. Zingari did their chances no harm by posting 163-9 (M.Hindmarsh 42) away at Baslow. The home side could only muster 128 (R.Rupra 4-39) in reply. SWD maintain their lead of Division One by a margin of two outright wins but have played more games than the sides around them. Their visitors on Saturday, Parkhead, were bowled out for 165 (Lee Stewart 4-63) which Works surpassed in the penultimate over thanks to Simon Pass (43no) with three men in hand. Ashford In The Water move into second place. They compiled 213-7 (J.Wilson 50, J.Henson 52) away at struggling Chesterfield Barbarians, who in turn were dismissed for 74 (M.Clegg 5-19). Moving ominously into third spot are defending champions Hundall. They sent back De La Salle for 105 and achieved a nine wicket victory. Holmesfield were bowled out for 104 at home to Calver, who capitulated for 39 against Nick Crapper (6-8). Collegiate slip into the Division One relegation zone despite making 195-5 (R.Naik 71) at Centralians. Cents crept home by one wicket thanks to Rob Johnson (57). Stanton too are making a battle to avoid relegation. They restricted Hathersage to 145-5 (Joe Woolway 60, Nick Rosling 4-47) and gained a six wicket win (Anthony Gladwin 88). Division Two's top of the table clash saw leaders Millhouses come out with the upper hand. They made 191-9 and pegged Sheffield University Staff to 147-8. Stocksbridge I are in third place by virtue of a win in the Stocksbridge 'derby.' Their second string were dismissed for 112 (Chris Kelly 4-34, Chris Siddall 4-30) and David Codd (56no) saw the firsts home with three men down. Bakewell slipped down the table having been bowled out for 109 (M.Ryalls 5-29) by Baslow, who recorded a six wicket win (J.Taylor 42no). Score of the day came from Grindleford, who made 232-7 (James Outram 75, Simon Statham 5-54). Visitors Centralians II were polished off for 70 (Tom Outram 4-17). At the lower end of the table, Hathersage II were bowled out for 70 by David Drew (5-24) and the evergreen John Bridgett (4-25) of Dronfield Woodhouse, who made the winning post with five wickets to spare. Parkhead II posted a healthy 202-9 (P.Tomlinson 51) and curtailed the innings of SWD II at 171-8 (D.Franklin 64, M.Warwick 4-57). Second placed Sheepbridge took advantage of a blank week for leaders De La Salle II to narrow their lead to just three points. They dismissed lowly Collegiate for 71 and raced to an eight wicket win. Still in contention with a game in hand are Transport. They tumbled Coal Aston for 79 (Noor Gul 4-33) and made it home with four wickets to spare (Ian Owens 44, Andy Wood 4-42). Also just in touch are Richland Wanderers. John Needham (58) steered the Chesterfield-based side to 186-4 away at Millhouses II. David Bell (5-27) spun the Wanderers to a sixty two run win. Ridgeway made an impressive 212-9 (Kevin Roberts 60) at home to bottom side University Staff II, who battled gamely for 160-8 (Joe Young 54no, Lee Keys 4-17). In the Knockout Cup Semi Finals, Hathersage were bowled out for 95 by Calver, who romped home by nine wickets thanks to Paul Beauchamp (40no). Collegiate were dismissed for 144 (Rittu Ghose 4-22) and went down to SWD, who replied with 148-5 (Marcus Burley 62no). The final takes place on September 4th.
