Downpours obliterate Yorkshire and Derbyshire programme Widespread downpours obliterated the entire programme in the Yorkshire & Derbyshire League on Saturday without a ball being bowled. A single Division One match was played on Sunday and a crucial one it proved to be. Parkhead compiled 183-8 (Ian Davies 57, Paul Cain 46, Phil Yardy 4-60) away at Hundall, who could only muster 103 all out in reply (Altaf Junaid 7-40). The win propelled Parkhead back into second place and brought to an end Hundall's recent winning streak. At the other end of the table, the abandonments signalled Chesterfield Barbarians drop into the Second Division for the 2006 season. A similar fate has befallen Stocksbridge II in Division Two. They cannot achieve enough points to get out of the bottom two and so will be playing their cricket in Division Three next season. One other game took place on Sunday in Division Four. Chesterfield Barbarians II were bowled out for 67 by Zingari, who were led to a six wicket win by Rikki Makkar (41). The win moved Zingari into third place, behind Hallam and Walkley, who are now crowned as Divisional champions having gained the points they required by virtue of the abandonments. Better weather is hoped for as the season reaches its critical last three weeks.
