Cowboys' team spirit makes them worthy champions On paper the Cuckney Cowboys v Killamarsh clash looked a one sided affair with Killamarsh playing their top batsmen Paul Burdett and Adam Burgess, together with the superb all-rounder KC Jayasinghe who has been almost unplayable in the games to date. But in a game they needed to win to take the Sunday League title it was Cowboys veterans Paul Hunt and Keith Haywood with 23 each, and Dave Collins with 25 that took their total to a defendable 88 for 6. The big thing in the Cowboys' favour is the team spirit built up over the four years playing together since the League started, and when Keith Haywood bowled KC for 23, the first time he has been dismissed this season, the score was 62 all out making Cuckney Cowboys worthy Sunday Champions. Wins for Thoresby Park, Bawtry and Clowne put all three safely into the play-offs, and Blidworth won the battle for runners up beating Kiveton Park by six wickets. Current play-off champions Tea Bags had few problems seeing off the challenge of bottom team Mafia to deservedly take the Monday league title and I would make them favourites to retain the trophy. Barmy Army ooked to be cruising to the runners up spot needing only 24 to win with four wickets in hand and four overs left, before their lower order got bogged down against accurate Edwinstowe bowling leaving them seven runs short of the 84 target when the overs ran out. Langold kept up their impressive form with a 15 run victory over Clumber Park, and despite great knocks by Glapwell's openers Nick Trustwell 46 not out and Matt Clark 40, they paid the price for only having six players as Thoresby Park won off the last ball, with Mick Day hitting the winning runs and top scoring with 41 not out. Cheers Steve.
