Linacre and Kinsey turn over disappointing Woodsetts The new season kicked off with a five wicket win for Kiveton Park over Pilsley, despite Steve Drury top scoring with 35 not out. Clowne Town lost three quick wickets against Woodsetts before good knocks by Matt Linacre (43) and Eddie Kinsey (30) turned the game, and the final total of 124 for 4 was 30 too many for Woodsetts, who although only losing one wicket, finished on a disappointing 90 for 1. Killamarsh could mount a challenge t his season with captain Paul Burdett making 30 not out as his team beat Cuckney Cowboys by three wickets. A good result for Bawtry as they beat play-off finalists Thoresby Park by a convincing six wickets. The big game on Monday matched double play-off champions Tea Bags against Springboks, who had won the previous two before dropping out of the league for two seasons. It was the present champs that came out on top with the highest score of the week, 135 for 4. Springboks never threatened the target and slumped to 73 all out. Edwinstowe's top four batsmen all reached the 20 needed to retire making light of Langold's 88 for 4 total. Glapwell's captain Nick Truswell steered his side home against Barmy Army with 36 not out, giving his team a narrow one wicket win. Without doubt the performance of the week came on Wednesday as Done & Dusted, who were the only team last season not to record a single win, played Walesby, and batting first going into the last over on 92 for 6, things didn’t look hopeful, before a record 37 scored off the last over by Matt Page to take his personal score to 74 not out and the team total to 129 for 6. Walesby scored steadily in reply, with Chris Nichol (23), Nick Johnson (20) and Dean Connelly (23), but with two overs left and 41 still required for victory, it was 15 year old Joe Saxilby who played some great shots, and with one ball left his side was only two runs away from an unlikely victory. 12 year old off spinner Matt Spooner held his nerve, and a run out off the last ball gave Done & Dusted their first victory by just one run. Wednesday champions Cuckney Terriers were on top form needing only nine overs to reach Blyth's 101 for 5 target. Cheers Steve.
