Kiveton thrash Thoresby to open gap at the top After only three weeks, a gap is beginning to appear at the top of the Sunday League with unbeaten Kiveton Park taking over the top spot following a 62 run thrashing of Thoresby Park. They replace the only other team on 100%, Killamarsh, who were held to 95 for 5 by bottom side Woodsetts. Killamarsh had P Crabtree to thank with 39 not out after a rare failure by Paul Burdett and KC. Woodsetts gave it a go in reply but the bowling proved too strong, with KC (2 for 10) and man of the match Crabtree (2 for 8) restricting them to 70 for 5. Pilsley recorded a notable victory over last season's Sunday champions Cuckney Cowboys. Gareth Malt top scored with 40 not out, helping his side to 117 for 6 and a one wicket win in the last over. Bawtry go third after an heroic effort by Dan Mothersdale, who scored 74 of his side's 102 all out total against Clowne, who could only muster 91 all out in reply. Monday produced the first tie for over a season as Edwinstowe chased down The Mafia's 97 for 6 total. John Kirk scrambled a three off the final delivery to gain his side a share of the points, despite the best efforts of player of the match Abbey Hawkins who added three wickets to the 26 runs she had scored in the Mafia's innings. The young Done & Dusted side made Shirebrook work hard to maintain their 100% record as Ben Wright (29 not out) and captain Matt Rowbottom (27) set up a useful total of 114 for 6. In reply, early wickets tumbled and when all rounder Gaz Hall ran out of partners, his side still needed fifty runs to win and an upset looked well on the cards. Not for the first time, he was up to the task and scored the winning run off the first ball of the last over, to give the long serving Shirebrook stalwart the rewards his sporting play deserves as he finished on 76 not out to win by one wicket. Teversal's Chris Hewitt was in the runs again as he followed up last week's century with 52 against Cuckney Terriers. With support from Dave Gell (26) the final total of 103 all out gave high flying Terriers few problems as they lost only one wicket in reply. Shireoaks continue to rack up the big scores. This week's 157 for 6 against Blyth saw James Hubble contribute 45 and Liam Sommers 43. Blyth captain Nick Widdowson led his side’s response, but when he was last man out they were still 62 runs short on 95 all out. Cheers Steve.
