Close shave, but Beard leads Clumber home All Sunday's games went to form and even at the early stage of week 5 of 14 it looks like being a six team fight for the third place spot that would secure a place in this seasons eight team play-offs. On Monday, Clumber Park caused an upset beating fancied Cuckney Springboks by one wicket, Richard Stroh top scored in the match with 53 for the Boks but it was Park's top all-rounder and captain Dave Beard who led his team home with 31 not out. Tea Bags show no sign of slipping, this week beating Edwinstowe by 37 run, after scoring 109 for 4 with Tommy Tea Bag in fine form with 31 not out. They bowled Edwinstowe out for 72 to register a 37 run victory. Langold thrashed Barmy Army in the battle of the winless sides, Nathan Parry 37 and Bryn Smith 32 piled on the agony for hapless Army who could only respond with 69 for 5 to leave them anchored at the foot of the table. Wednesday was a night of surprises as leaders Cuckney Terriers lost to Tricky Trees despite good knocks from Richard Bostock (39) and captain Greg Searston (42), they could only manage 100 for 6. Good scoring all down the order got Trees home with just one ball to spare. Shireoaks put paid to the other unbeaten record in this league in beating Shirebrook by 28 runs. Oak's Ben Underwood saved his side with 42 out of his side's 88 all out total to leapfrog them to the top of the table. A great performance by 12 year old Matthew Spooner gave improving Done & Dusted a narrow victory over Blyth. First he took two wickets in the Blyth innings bowling his accurate off spin, and then teamed up with Matt Page (32 not out), scoring 24 not out to gain victory off the final ball off the game. Cheers Steve.
