Killamarsh blitz leaves Pilsley reflecting As we approach the halfway stage of the season, only two teams remain unbeaten. In the Sunday league Killamarsh had a major scare against bottom side Pilsley, who quickly reduced them to 37 for 5. A recovery took the score to 67 with three overs of the innings left, before a blitz from S Ludlam (52 not out) and P Mudhar (50) added an amazing 55 runs t o shatter Pilsley’s hopes of an upset. After finishing on 73 for 5 in reply, Pilsley were left reflecting on what might have been. Kiveton Park keep up their challenge this week beating Bawtry by 23 runs. My tip for third place is Clowne who put flagging Cuckney Cowboys to the sword, scoring 146 for 3 with Matt Lineker (46 not out) and Dale Steers (40 not out) setting up a 49 run victory. Thoresby Park are on a good run beating Woodsetts to take third spot and continue improving after being bottom of the league after week three. Tea Bags are the other unbeaten team and with a season's top score of 179 all out against Glapwell, to give them a massive winning margin of 120 runs. They are running away with Monday league. Whitwell have replaced The Mafia due to training commitments and they found Langold in good form, their 115 for 6 proving to be 36 to many as Whitwell were bowled out for 79 in reply. Springboks and Clumber Park are both on eight points after wins over Edwinstowe and Barmy Army. On Wednesday, leaders Shireoaks were far too good for the Done & Dusted’s youngsters with a four wicket win, and Shirebrook's game with Blyth was over almost before it began as a hat trick by Roy Braughton and two wickets in two balls by Alan Charlsworth shot Blyth out for a miserly 20. A good knock of 27 by Walesby's Aaron Wood was not enough to save his team from a close two wicket defeat by Cuckney Terriers, and Tricky Trees open up a four point gap in fourth place after beating Teversal. A pint to the first person to answer this question, Tea Bags are on an eleven League game winning run. Who can tell me the team and date of the last time they were beaten? PS: you can find out on Alan Rowley’s excellent cricket web site www.thefollowon.com. Cheers Steve.
