Normal service resumed as top four all win It was normal service resumed on Sunday. After last week's upsets, the top four all won, with the closest encounter the 21 run defeat of Bawtry by Thoresby Park. With the top four fighting it out over the three play-off spots on offer, Clowne could regret the fact that they are the division's lowest wicket takers, as the runs scored times the wickets taken come into the equation for teams on the same points. The big Monday clash started with Springboks' Richard Stroh bowling a maiden over to Tea Bags' Will Ullyott with the pace and accuracy that gave the impression that game 13 could be the end of champions Tea Bags winning run. When Brother Tom joined Will at the crease, despite an early rib tickler from Stroh, the pair set about building a defendable total, and 46 not out from Tom and 34 from Will achieved this. A late flourish gave the final total an air of respectability at 107 for 5. Springboks' reply started disastrously with Captain Will Butler out in the first over. As wickets tumbled, only Stroh with 52 showed any resistance against the Tea Bags' attack, and when he was run out in the 13th over, the winning margin was 17 runs in the Tea Bags favour. Clumber Park are on a good run themselves with only one defeat in their last six games and, despite a great effort by Whitwell to defend their 85 for 6 total, Park's Chaison Morris struck a six to win the match with only two balls to spare. Barmy Army followed up last week's tie with a first win over Glapwell, and Edwinstowe beat Langold by two wickets. After easy wins for Shireoaks, 104 runs over Teversal, and Cuckney Terriers, six wickets over the leagues only remaining winless side Blyth, it was left to lowly Walesby and Done & Dusted to play-out an exciting last game of the night. Batting first D&D captain Matthew Rowbottom was in good form hitting three sixes in 32, but apart from Haydn Wright with 23, he received little support and the final total of 84 all out would prove to be just short. Good bowling made Walesby work hard and it was the penultimate ball of the game before Dave Wager struck the three runs required to win the match, and by only losing one wicket swap league positions. Cheers Steve.
