Stoppard century sees off Raptors Sunday started with a narrow 15 run win for Mansfield & Pleasley over Bawtry, Ben Wright top scoring with 25 and taking Bawtry's final wicket off the first ball of the final over. Clowne also failed to make 100, Eddie Kinsey with 25 helping them to 94 all out. Again It was enough to take the points as Blidworth slumped to 73 all out in reply. Thoresby Park's John Stoppard became only the second player in the League's history to score a century, this one very much helped by the vast amount of extras bowled by the inexperienced Rose Raptors' bowling attack, after they had taken the first 6 wickets early on. Greg Searston was again in good form with 3 for 12 in 3 overs. Stoppard topped off a fine individual performance by taking 3 wickets for 1 run as Raptors crumbled to 22 all out. On Monday, Langold bounced back from last week's defeat with a 39 run defeat of Wiseton Lions, Adam Dutton last man out for Langold top scoring with 49. A hard hitting 53 by James Peacock including 4 sixes helped Edwinstowe to a healthy 135 all out total. Whitwell for the second week running made a great fist of chasing down a high target but again fell just short, Duncan Forrest leading the way with 39 as they ran out of overs on 114 for 6. Shirebrook have come very close to winning the Wednesday League for the last three seasons only to be pipped at the post. Again they have started well winning for the second week running, this time beating Walesby by 53 runs. Fiskerton got off the mark with a four wicket defeat of Blyth, G Lewis top scoring with 23 not out. Mansfield & Pleasley Dragons, with great all-round bowling, reduced a strong Tricky Trees side to 64 all out, before a fight back by Trees bowled out the Dragons for 54. Only Matt Page with 20, and Mark Spooner with 17 showed any resistance. Cheers Steve.
